For once I agree with semp, WoT has all you need and more (no trees flipping 20 ton tanks). It's free and you can play your PzIII there too.

Except you get none of the historical sense there. It doesn't even feel like you're driving a tank there. Trust me, I've tried it.

Next time you want to make love with your wife and shes busy with something... well, just leave her alone and beat it. You still get off, right? Same thing, right?

Basically the same thing you're saying with regard to the Panzer III. One games modeling and representation of a tank is not inherently equal to that of another game. And WoT's view system, battle system, modeling, and..... everything but maybe grahpics are highly inferior to Aces High's.

I agree, World of tanks was not for me. Other than tank don't roll over in there and you don't have to drive 20 minutes to get into action I can't say I cared much for it.

this tank is so slow that if there is a mission with it in included it will arrive about 20. to 30 min later than any other tank.   only time it will see action is at 135, the spawn camping map.

I bet the Panzer III with the 50mm Kw.K. 39 L/60 gun (J and L variant?) and a high rate of fire (20rds / min) would do better than many think.  No, I wouldn't stand off and take pot shots at Tigers and Panthers, or anything other than the lighter shinned gv's, but a smart player could put it to good use in the tank game.  It is a small target after all.

Wider and longer than the Panzer IV, but its coming up on a foot shorter, so its profile is a lot lower. Better ambush tank.

And the P III absolutely would be a better tank than most think, especially if they gave it APCR. We're talking about 150mm of penetration with those rounds.

What are you comparing it to?  It's speed is the same as Panzer IV and a bit faster then the Tiger I.  The Sherman is about 5mph faster and the T-34 is a couple miles faster then the Sherman.

M4 is about 2mph faster than the Panzer III and IV. Panther is about 1.5mph faster than the M4. T-34/85 is about 4mph faster than the Panther. T-34/76 is about 3mph faster than the T-34/85.

So you would agree with me then.  Speed for the Mk III is not an issue right?  Just don't want you getting confused as to whose side I'm on in this one :aok

Yes, I would agree.

A difference of 2-3mph is rather unimportant. A speed difference of 5mph is significant. But 10mph..... now a difference of 10mph+ is getting close to the level of where it might be sorta usefull to take into account during the fight.

Unlike in aircraft, escape isn't usually an option for GV's. I mean in an aircraft, you can't engage from several thousand yards out, and hope to hit. You can with a tank. Therefore, small, and even moderate differences of speed are largely irrelevent.

I would still like to see the Panzer III in the game with both the 37mm and the 50mm. The rate of fire is close to an M-8 with better armor and a bigger gun even is it does not have the speed. As pointed out elsewhere the Panzer IIIs was used for other armor configurations that could end up in the game down the road if we have the MK III. I don't see it as a hangar queen.

So you want HTC to design a whole new tank shell just to be used so they can add a Panzer 3?

They would have to design a whole new tank shell if they added the Panzer III even without APCR. Besides, its still less work than adding just about any other vehilcle.

Not sure where the speed comes from, Panzer III only does 25mph. I can see Ausf. J and G being added - don't need a town killer since the PanzerF already exists.

Unless something else gets added like the Crusader it basically is outclassed by every tank.

I would like to see it for historical value - Barbarosa campaign for example vs the T34, if a Crusader gets added for a north Africa campaign.

Unless more early war tanks get added, its simply outclassed by everything period.

Pz4F already is 40 eny, I can see it being bumped down to 30 eny and having this tank at 40 eny.

Then again if a Puma gets added nobody would drive a Panzer III since its same gun, but 10-15 mph faster.
