Bi-weekly request - KV2
« on: August 12, 2012, 08:03:50 PM »
We need a heavy artillery tank!

The KV-2 has a 152mm assault gun! Range of 13,500 yards! Armor 110mm. A bit slow at 16mph.

Please please please...  :D

Wrong. It will be even better at shelling than the M4A3(75) is. I always get a chuckle when T34s start shelling a field. They have to be within Tiger II range to shell a field even with an elevation advantage. That would not be true of the KV2. Storches will actually have to do some work for once if it is introduced.

challenge that tank is so slow that it would take forever to get from spawn to withing shelling range of another base.  so basically most guys would just up at their own base sit on concrete and use it for defense.

then code it so it can't up from the H spawn. this way if people want defensive artillery they would have to spawn from a different base and position the arty

Semp... you should try this before you comment. The KV2 has the ability to shell a field from those really long distances. You probably never play with the GVs but there are spawns that are huge distances from fields.  A KV2 would have trouble with the big hills/mountains but the gun has a really nice reach. Surviving and knocking assets down would give some pretty nice perks too.

KV-2 is just down right ugly big turret on a little body just doesn't fit right idk I like my LVTA4 for taking down towns at extreme distances and the KV-2 was never intended for artillery just because it has an artillery size gun does not make it artillery but if we could get this along side the KV-3 or IS-2 then we might just +1 it lol

Was never intended as artillery? Its a howitzer for crying out loud!

KV-2 is impervious to Panzers.

The KV-3 and IS-2 are much later and barely qualify if they even do.

IS-2 qualifies easily, entered service in late 1943/early 1944 and was produced in good numbers.

challenge how many maps have spawn where you can actually see the base from long distances on the ground?  you think that everybody likes to get close to the town just to look at the street names?  you cant see most of  towns or bases unless you either get close or get up on a hill.  and both require moving from the spawn.  at a whopping 16 mph most players would just bring another tank that is faster.   that tank will be used not to hit bases from far away but to sit at its own base on concrete hitting attacking tanks, just like we do  with the tiger2.

Want to bet? Any tank that climbs hills doesnt climb them fast. For the option of having a larger gun that requires fewer shells to kock down the same number of buildings users will drive a little slower.

I can already hit fields and towns without leaving most spawn points. There are maps where I can deny the enemy radar at every front line field within minutes of the map coming into play and without driving one meter.

I just want a bigger gun and more armor. I dont care if it moves at 16mph or 8mph I want it.

ANd for some reason I thought Eric was asking for the IS-3.
