190A-8 Drivers perfered views?
« on: August 14, 2012, 10:39:50 AM »
I have been flying the 190A-8 lately and suffer from the terrible blind spots. I use my fwd view to look out the left side along the cowl. Is there a better position?
Also I don't use a Track IR or variant. Is there a way to compensate for that with the default views, and Head position saving? I have almost all my positions pushed as close to the window as I can get, but will still not be able to see a maneuvering opponent past window trim. Thoughts?

are you playing on laptop? or desktop?

If desktop the keypad, has all the views on them. They just need fine tuning using the arrow keys and page up or page down buttons.

I personally find paging up and moving back allows for more viewing area and less interference from the frames.... you will never get rid of it..

Yes,moving head position back will allow for better views, the bracing for canope will get a little bit smaller so you may be able to see around them better.

The only thing you can do is experiment with the views and save the optimum view for your purposes, everyone uses slightly different views and adjustments. There are a set of packaged views available at the trainers site,Murdr was kind enough to put the package together and although it's somewhat old and doesnt include all the planes in the hanger,it's a pretty good starting point and only needs some personal tweaking.

I remember having to adjust my rear (6) view up and left or right for a beter view behind the headrest.  The armor and upped-engine gives it a fatter looking cowl than the A5 looking forward, and the forward wind screen has the thicker frame for the armored glass (as morph suggested, moving your head back and away from it will make them apear smaller).... not much we can do to adjust that on your end, and a lot/most pilots learing a new/unfamiliar plane in the game always have a challenge learning high defelction shots where you're shooting at a target you cant' see under your nose (especialy more difficult the further out you get).

Radial single-engined planes are not known for their good forward/under-the-nose views.

I am one of those that use the keypad for views. One of the advantages is that you get many forward view that you can set and save. Except the "neutral" and "forward" views, every combination of conflicting directions gives you another "forward" view.

Examples: "left"+"right", "forward left" + "forward right", "forward back left/right" + "forward" (in key combinations they are: 4+6, 7+9, 1+8 or 3+8). There are more.

I use these for instrument view, max over the nose view, cheek against left/right perspex.

I am sure that with some creative stick programming something similar can be achieved with the POV hat and buttons.
