Arm chair generals are to he expected. In all mmo's there are people who want to run things to the beat of their own drum. An while this can be annoying, i feel permasquelch is needed for those who seemingly go out of their way to stir up interplayer conflict. People who just mindless babble and antogonize other are what detract hugely from the social aspect of the game.

Damn, I've been spending the past 7+ years wasting my time trying to shoot the other guy down when I was supposed to be socializing?

Hmm i must research said explanations. I dont recall seeing one eery, bu only been playing 3ish years an not a strict bbs follower.

Oddly enough i can see both HT or Skuzzy popping in this thread with simply "When hell freezes over" :)

 :salute

Edit: just found a good one on their reasons an while it sounds like a simple fix, i know jack about computers so im sure its a hell of alot harder then id imagine. On a seperate note, it sure is nice to see the htc staff answering its customers. Most companies just let us piss and moan while they count our monthly dues

Yeah, so basically it boils down to when a gameID on the permasquelch list is given up because the guy changed his name or left altogether. If a new guy joins up and happens to use that exact gameID, he'd wonder why nobody ever talks to him, and might quit, thinking "this game sux cuz nobody responds to new guys".

If it could be set up that when a gameID drops off the "active list" when it's given up, it gets removed from the permasquelch lists, then perhaps you guys will get your wish. I doubt it's worth HTC's time and effort to implement, though.

For the love of God, perma-squelch.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

Not that I don't think HTC should implement, as they should; however, until it gets cold enough, you can execute a workaround on your own.

Macro your own personal squelch list!

I have a button bound so upon logging in, I press it and it auto-types out all the squelches for me (takes it about 10-15 seconds).  I configured mine with my stick config... if your stick doesn't support macros I'm sure something like auto hotkey could be utilized as well.

Sometimes if I'm playing for a while it seems as if the squelch list expires (not sure how long).  I just press the button again and quality has once again returned.

Pand's method works.  What you might be seeing with stuff seeming to expire, Pand, is if the people you have squelched log off and back on, they will become unsquelched.  Same for you.  If you log off and back on, you need to redo your squelches.
