Best Storyline in a Game?

The main thing that gets me hooked on a game is the storyline. What are some of the best? Preferably on PC and with modern graphics (ie, no Fallout 1/2, or Planescape Torment, even though the stories were great).

For me:

Neverwinter Nights with all the expansion packs.
Call of Duty (the stories were great but disappointingly short).
Dragon Age
The Witcher 1 + 2
Dear Esther
Amnesia the Dark Descent
Mass Effect 1+2+3
Skyrim (short main story, but a crap ton of other side quests made it up)
Fallout 3
Metro 2033

Assassins Creed 1 & 2 were fun, but kinda dropped off when they added the extraterrestrial element to the game.

The new one coming out this year looks promising.

I'm actually trying to play through the first Assassin Creed now but IMO, the sci fi part just seems out of place. The lack of subtitles also make it hard to follow what anyone is saying since there's so much ambient noise going on, even with headsets on.

Call of Duty has a good storyline.
The new Assassin Creed looks like it's going to be awesome!
But the game that I love the most is the Ace Combat series. AC5 has one awesome storyline, AC0 is brilliant, and I loved AC4. AC6 was good too, just not on the same level as the others though.

I still have to buy a new dark messiah of might and magic because I lost the one i had before completing it

Dear esther! hah! I remember playing it when it was free mod, so different! loved it!

Check out the source mod called "the stanley parable"
really cool!

Also a really good one is a source mod called "underhell" currently in development but the prologue was out long ago. seriously, it is AMAZING the story is a REALLY creative thing on it!
