How about more Tank Destroyers
« on: August 17, 2012, 01:02:33 AM »
It would be nice to have additional tank destroyers. The STuGIII, M10 Wolverine, Jgpanther, just to name a few. They were very much part of Armor History. Currently there is only one to choice from, the M18 Hellcat. What would be the possibility to add a few in the future?

I wouldn't mind seeing the Jagdpanzer IV for two reasons - early version had a KwK L/48 which is the same gun the Panzer IV H had, later versions had a L/70 - same gun the panther had.

Both versions had well over 700 produced, one wouldn't be perked, other would - very little differences between the two otherwise.

This would be a nice test to see how well people use turretless tank destroyers.

Best test of turretless TD's I can think of would be to get the SdKfz 251/22, as far as time spent on a potential failure goes. Purely because they don't have to model the casemate on the Jagdpanzer IV.

Just an SdKfz 251 with a PaK 40 mounted on the top.

If time/effort spent is of less concern, I would say Jagdpanzer IV, or Jagdpanther is the best we could do. I would vote for the Jagdpanther, purely because even if it ends up being less usefull than anticipated, it could still have a role as a dedicated Tiger-buster with its 88mm L'71.

This would be a good addition to the game and it has as much armor protection as an M-18 which don't recommend it much but the gun is very good. More armor of any kind is fine by me.

Seriously though, this would probably be about the quickest way we can test the effectivness of turretless TD's.

It would have the optics, firpower, and limited traverse of the vehicles it would be representing. It would trade armor for speed, and small size (you could hide inside of undestroyed barns, and you would be near invisible at extended ranges)

jagdpanzer 38(t) please  :pray

The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.
