Enjoying this so far. I find myself kind of lost. Missions don't seem to be obvious...you really need to go looking for them. When you do find them, they seem to be in the form of a world event. I'm still new, so not sure though.

The storyline missions are a lot of fun but from what I have seen, you can't just run through them real quick or you find yourself under-leveled and not be able to complete them. You need to hunt for random missions/world events like mentioned above.

The PvP arena, or World Vs World (WvW) has a lot of potential. The way it is structured is great, and the battlefield is massive with a bunch of objectives that can be completed/captured. My only gripe is I am already starting to notice that some worlds seemed to be stacked with better guilds, therefor they absolutely dominate WvW. I jumped in a WvW match last night and I barely made it out of the staging/portal area before I ran into a swarm of 50+ bad guys. Thought I was playing Aces High for a second  :lol

I have a Norn(I think that's what it is called?) Warrior and a Charr Ranger. I enjoy melee fighting for PvE, but prefer the range for PvP. Still being a noob I am much more effective if I just sit back and snipe.

So far the only major hiccup has been their Trading Post ..it has been tits up since launch pretty much.

A coupla stutters along the way ..when it's up it looks like harvesting and crafting will be lucrative money makers.
I am runnin up huntsman for makin bows and guns ..can make some pretty amazing bits at skill of 200 (50th level weapons)
..a crafter can actually make a rare item if he has the right bits.

I made a bow that is better than any drop I have seen to date.. and it even looks cool :)

The leveling bug hasn't bitten me ..I spend days real time just goofin off ..
..it's fun to run low level zones as your char scales to the zone ....
..you can't just wade into 'em thinkin yer all that because you will have your butt handed to you :)
Every fight/event is a good one .. I am so sucked in.

There's even an 'Overkill' acheivement .. I shot a bunny for 10,600 pts of damage just for laffs.. single shot, no buffs on :)

I need to work on crafts but have no idea where to start. I'll need to look up some guides.

Buster if you press H, find your pvp tab and port to Heart of the Mists you can do 8v8 pvp or 5v5 if you've got some buddies, and avoid the hordes :-)

Edit: here is a great crafting guide http://gaiscioch.com/tavern/guildwars_crafting/post_35198.html
Did you see my dad on dogfights yet?
I'll be seeing you face to face possibly next month.

I would just make people mad if I joined a 5v5 team. I would definitely not help them out any  :(

Thanks for the guide!

I liked the PvP on GW1..

Does anyone know some good 5v5 comps?

My guess would be Ele,Guardian, Warrior,  Necromancer, Hunter maybe?

mesmer + thief are probably the best two sPvP classes atm...engineers seem to do great too

any combination can work, it's all about the teamwork really

Human ranger, Noble birth, adopted Gray as his signature color as he did not like standing out in a crowd, preferring to listen and observe the currents in any social event from the periphery. The better to discern the truth and make correct decisions.

His first pet, Chang, amazed him with the loyalty and unabridged love as he grew, later the ferocity in battle truly made his pet an ally in all he did.
Sometimes he felt he was the pet and Chang was his Master, especially when it was feeding time!

He left Divinity's Reach seeking to do what he could to fight the corruption of Tamria, for it seems it is spreading everywhere, even in Divinity's Reach.

'Got Bow?' is his trademark saying

.. he has Bow.

Thing about groupage in GW2 .. makeup is secondary .. gotta be able to run the character.
All can heal, revive, DPS, tank or kite, it's up to the player to learn the character and be effective with it.

I still have a long way to go before I know what 'best' setup works for this or that just on my Ranger.
That said ..we smoked my first dungeon run, boss mobs dropped on first tries, kinda ripped thru the dungeon.
We all died a few times, but the mechanics of revival prevented a wipe
..there was always someone layin the smack down :)

Heck even my pet can go revive someone if I load that trait.
Came in handy :)
Didn't have to break stride on my strafing runs :)
Boom an Zoom baby!

I'm really getting into it now myself, too.

I didn't realize that anyone could harvest any node, so I had been ignoring them when I saw them. I'm now mining every rock, picking every plant and cutting every tree that I can. I'm going to get a good stockpile and sell what I don't need.

I started working on Jeweling last night a bit. That guide coombzy provided was really helpful. I'm interested in playing with the discovery process and learning new recipes. I got my first area 100% complete (Wayfarer Foothills). You get a nifty chest with some goodies in it for completing a zone.

I think I'm going to start looking for a guild within the next week or so. Being a noob, I have a lot of questions which hopefully guildies could help me answer.

Been reading some killer reviews and a bunch of recommendation from friends...I think I might get this.  :aok

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.
