Me 410 Mk 103
« on: August 18, 2012, 09:36:00 PM »
Are any AP rounds carried for the 30mm? Or was it never used in the anti-vehicle capacity on the Me 410?
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

Only thing I can find is it fired the Minengeschoss aiming with the ZFR4 telescope gunsight shooting out to 800m. The HE round had a slightly reduced powder content to reduce recoil which was substantial.

Now if you want "hen's teeth" and everyone in here telling you how rare they were.  There are the 190 mods that slung a MK103 under each wing and they fired the AP round. Or the Hs 129 B-2. Some sources say the 190's wings were damaged by the recoil of the full powder content AP rounds and it didn't go very far. Some sources say the 190F serise had the wings beefed up to use it. I'm sure the 190 expertin will be along in a moment to assault this FW urban legend.

The WW2 Big Catalog of FW armament parts shows the MK103 under wing pods as an R3 kit for A8\9\10 and F8\9\10.

If you want the MK101\103 shooting AP at tanks wish for the Hs 129. It even has a single mounting of the BK3.7 from our 87G and a 7.5cm PAK40.
