Skins for Pickup Missions please.

Could we please have a look at the difficulty in allowing for a skin to be set for a mission.  This would be particularly advantageous in the SEA but would surely have support in the MA as well.

I don't know if it is any more complex than it is to load a choice of weapons or fuel. Perhaps it is.
I would imagine it is possible to make it voluntary, if you think that it's necessary, with a pop-up message on joining the mission "accept skin?"  If the skin is downloaded, where needed, on joining the mission it should remove any background problems?

... and a plus for scenarios. We were tooling up to fly as the 609th with their distinctive Typhoon colours a scenario back and we were unable to let the bad guys know who they were fighting.

It must be easier than making a film viewer to let us record our sorties HT... :-)

But c-mon squads LOVE to use the same skin, but to have to up outside of the mission with the specific skin during a scenario and merely us the mission planner for headcounts is useless...

I think you might be missing something:
When you join a mission you get the default skin.  You do not retain the skin you "selected" in the hangar.  The mission already chooses the skin for you and it is always the default. There is no choice involved.
It's not about "forcing" people to use a skin. It's about allowing them to "choose" a skin as a group and retain it when they join a mission.
People often spend considerable effort to make skins for special events to aid in immersion. Players would like to use them, but we come up against an irritation.

We often have lots of "walk-ons" in special events.  We want these people to have a good time, be immersed and leave having felt they were productive.
The quickest best way to bring them up to speed is have them join a mission.  It works.  It's good for everybody.
We need the missions more than we need the skins - but why not allow us to have both?

We agree! Unfortunately the current system doesn't allow you to choose the skin you want AND join a mission.  Note in the original post I raised a point about it being voluntary "with a pop-up message on joining the mission "accept skin?"  It would be wonderful if such was the outcome.  I would settle for any advance on what we have now though.

yes and I like the skin that I fly with, it's my signature skin in the main arenas for the ponyd.  if I join a mission I switch the skin to the one I like.  if I fly in a special event then there's normally a skin that is selected before the event and told everybody to use it.  but we arent talking about special events here.  we are talking about the main arenas.  the special event thingy is only added to make it look like it's mainly for that but that has never been the case.

and even in the special events there arent missions created for you to join.  we are just old of which airfield to up from and with the airplane you registered to fly with and this is known weeks in advanced.  so no, this isnt a wish about special events.  and even in the main arenas most of the missions are informal, just meet at this or that airfield.

Depends on the Squad --- for SE and FSO many squads set up a mission to make things easy, especially for air launches.

Why attack a wish that has no impact on you, because you can still choose not to use it... it's a good wish, lets have it!

"but we arent talking about special events here."  What's this we?  I am. Always was.  It's certainly valid to take it beyond the SEA though.  Why shouldn't people be able to fly in a mission with anything other than the default skin?  If you can do this already, you have a gift.  Please share.

Actually its misrepresentation as well.  Are you really that special that you can start dictating to us what and where our wish is about?
