I'm kind of baffled by this story.  I don't care whether he doped or not, if I where betting I'd guess he did, but I'd guess that most all the serious competitors where at the time...

However...

Armstrong passed and/or fooled hundreds of drug tests during his career.  What new evidence does the USADA have now, a decade later, on him?  All I've heard is accusations from former rivals and teammates.  Not one positive test to point to, no one coming forward to say they where his supplier, just one mans word against anothers.   Seems like a pretty weak case to me.  Or do they have some 'smoking gun' they aren't making public?

Also how can the USADA strip him of his Tour titles?  Last time I checked the Tour de France was NOT organized nor run by the USADA, or had anything to do with ANY US gubment agency.    Seems like maybe this USADA group are on a power trip, and are overstepping their authority a bit.

And what about second, third, etc places those years?  If Armstrong where doping, I'd bet they where too.

the testers save the samples because they are generally behind the dopers when it comes to detection. that way when a new test is developed they can retest the samples and bust em. its like the many crimes which have been solved years after because DNA testing became available.

In his statement he blws the USADA off as  having no power to charge any athlete with anything, moreover the people that  do govern international biking  have ordered  USADA to stop harrasing Armsrong and urged bikers not  to  paticipate in anything the USADA requests. Basically they CANT strip his 7 tours  as they have no rigth and  they can throw all the crap they want but this is the last statement hes going to make on it.

His teammates who were caught with hot samples are the ones leveling the accusations yet no hot samples from Lance.

I would imagine that when lance went through chemotherapy for cancer that there were some steroids prescribed to keep him from withering away during his battle to stay alive but I don't see how that affects his wins where none of his tests showed either doping or performance enhancing drugs.

According to Armstrong's public statement and every news story I have read on it, even today they have no positive samples, nada, zip, zilch.  Again all the USADA seems to have is accusations from some of his rivals and former teammates.

Again, I'm not saying he didn't dope (like I said, I believe it's likely that many did) I just don't think the USADA can prove anything.  They have no concrete evidence, just hearsay and accusations, which makes this whole ordeal seem like this USADA group is just on a power trip.

When you figure in the costs of the attorneys to fight a federal agency it gets to be staggering and goes beyond dignity.

The USADA is on nothing more than a witch hunt fueled by people who have axes to grind.

Sorry to disagree...Marion Jones never failed a drug test, LA's crew had LOTS more money to spend to see he never failed one...guy named Vaughters had some interesting, unsolicited comments regarding doping being widespread. Seems only the stupid, under funded got caught.
LA pulled the martyr, to have gone ahead w/arbitration would have brought out too, too much.  Transfusions on the team bus after the stealthy motorcycle courier brings up the refridgerated blood, he stands to lose more than titles...$$$$..after carefully crafting a shield from the hopelessly ill and dying.
May still come out in his team manager B's arbitration...There were too many people involved that aren't on money train anymore.. they have axes to sharpen? They will still be out there, and more and more unwilling to keep living the lie, why for a fraud?
And as to witness' 'must be lying, as they've already been caught themselves'..been to any criminal court trials lately?
The vaunted UCI may have even been in on the LA debacle? He boasted to some they were 'paid-off'.

'everyone' did it, don't ya know, so what's the big deal? Have any children involved in sports?

The UCI and USAsports will uphold the ban....they've MORE to lose when the rest unravels if they don't.

 Just my 2 cents...

Well not so much when he's stripped of his titles. And if he was doping himself ti the eyeballs in order to win, which is a fair bet, then whomever is next in line from all those races (that isn't drugged up as well) deserves the title :old:
