Aerobatic Contest

  I need at least 2, 3 would be great, Rooks to assist me in a Aerobatic contest to be held Sept 20th, 9:00PM, EST in the main late war arena. The contest will be held at a rear field, to avoid interference from opposing country's in the main late war arena.

If you agree to help me, it will be as a judge. I would like experienced pilots or AH members who fly radio control aircraft.

The 3 maneuvers to be judged are: a slooooow roll, executed along a large field runway, a "Cuban 8" and a loop. In the event of ties, the "fly off" will consist of a "tail spin" of at least 4 turns, with aircraft recovering on same heading as entry to maneuver.
The boundaries of the maneuvers will be with in the confines of the longest runway at a large field, with the "floor" at 500 feet AGL.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

I think it's best to do this in the TA or a custom arena.

We used to do this weekly in the training arena in Dawn of Aces. It was a lot of fun. Occasionally we would have required maneuvers but usually everyone just flew their own figures. We had 2 classes of solo and also a team, generally 2 people, which usually flew a demo for lack of competition.

Great idea, ET. Out of my skill level for both flying and judging, but post up a
reminder a day or two before the event. I'd love to watch it. <S>

  I appreciate the suggestion, but I feel as tho I would  get more squad entrants, if they did not have to log out and into another arena. Besides, if I don't get enough squad members, (12, out of 52), I plan on opening it up to any Rook squad. I just think it would be fun and something "different" than just the everyday base taking and "furballing". I intend to extent an invitation to "skuzzy", Hi Tech and any other AH staff member to enter if they like. I think it would be "cool" to judge them for once!

you're sure to get lots of takers when you exclude 2/3'rds of the players by saying "any rook squad".

  AHXARL on Tuesday nights at 10 pm East coast, 7 pm West. Tonight we are flying the RV-8  We fly through hangars under bridges, and the tracks are usually 4-5 Laps per heat! We also do 3 heats per race!  If you think you can do it, see you there!
