Get into the arcade vs. sim argument all you want, there's one key point that has me playing WoT and not AH for the past year and a half- one is free and requires only a mouse and keyboard to play, the other is $14.95 per month and can't really be played properly without at least a joystick, preferably with a throttle and rudder pedals, and a mic/headset combo. With the financial situation my wife and I have been in for the past two years, that's a BIG selling point for one, and turnoff for the other.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

in your case the problem is money, not what is required to play.  I play both games and I pay for both games, at least for now.  wot is not really free it depends on lots of us who pay in order for those of you who dont.  if the players who pay for premium accounts goes down then so will the game.

I've bought gold when I could afford it, but the simple fact is that for a year and a half of playing WoT, I've spent less in fees and peripherals than I would have to for about six months of AH. And spent a lot less time doing nothing in the bit of free time I've had to devote to it.

Do I think WoT is a great game- no, in fact I don't like their system at all. I was in the Alpha testing for World of Warplanes and found it so moronic that I asked them to take me out of the program after about two months. But for what it is (an FPS with tanks), it's fun. It's also much more user friendly, moddable, and believe it or not has a lot less annoying kids in the summer and wannabe history 'experts' the rest of the year. It's just a game, and we all know it.

I'm also eagerly looking forward to MW:O for the same reasons- it costs nothing to get started, and I can spend money here and there on it if I want to, not because I have to for the simple privilege of logging in.

It's fun if you can last through the grind to the T9 or T10 tanks. Yes, there are some low tier tanks that are fun (Stug, Kv-1, Easy8) but unless you want to drive those tanks forever, youre gonna have to put up with the crappy tanks in a tech tree. It's easily fun if you don't have to worry about getting into a match where you can't even damage a tank on the other side, or where you don't have to worry about going bankrupt when you play a high tier tank.


I'm guessing you are a bad player, a good player averages 900+ XP a battle...now it depends on the line but you can grind some t10's very fast.

For instance I may be grinding from a e50 to a e50m and i may have 100 battles with 145,000 xp accumulated, and only average 900 xp but on your decent wins you make 1,200 to 2,000 XP so it makes up for the losses.
Thing's deff slow down after t8 but I can usually grind 2 t10's in a month or less just switching back and forth between 2 lines.

But yes for the "average" player who only makes 400xp per battle it would take forever.

Heck the smaller tanks are more fun than the higher tiers. I have I think four(?) tier ten heavies. The only ones I don't have yet are the Maus and AMX 50B. I hate playing all of them (Except my T110E5) because people are afraid to get shot, the amount of high tier arty (not arty in general), and the people complaining.

And people saying "Tanks you can't even hurt." - You can't be the number one tank on the field ALL the time. Not to mention you only fight two tiers higher than your tank now (except scouts and arty) which is well within' ANY tanks ability to hurt each other. I can take a tier five medium and spank a tier seven heavy all day. You can't just post up 300m out and try to go head to head. You'll lose and die just like the M4 drivers who thought they could in WWII before they learned how to fight Tigers.

Ones free, quick battles, easy grind.
One cost money, takes forever to get to most fights, spawn camping if you're not driving.

BTW: The tanks disappear because the maps are small. They're small to make the game quick. If everyone could see all across the map, then folks with low end PC's would be boned because of render distance and tanks with higher accuracy would dominate the battle field because they would pick the enemy off before they got close.

If you're having a hard time killing tanks in WoT, you need to look at the other fourteen people on your team and see if you can find another target. If you can't, work with what you've got and get to your opponent's flank.

Statistics lie .....boils down to if someone is having fun playing a game....playing field is a lot more even in WOT, IMO.

Sorry I don't devote my entire time into WoT? I play one match a day or two if I'm bored with a IS-4 and a KV-5 to make up the credit losses if I lose with the IS-4. You want to see a perfect balance between fun, casual, grind, and competitive gameplay? Try out League of Legends. Probably the most successful MMO in the market right now. There's grind, but only just, so that newbies get used to the game while playing with people similar to their skill level. It takes maybe 1 week to get to the maximum level if you play 5 matches a day. Yet it takes years to become a pro.

IMO, give the player the tools they need to play either instantly (like AH) or gradually but not forever (League of Legends). WoT forces you to grind 3(!!) skill sets (XP, credits, and crew experience) in order to level the playing field. The balance (match making) is terrible at some tiers (wtf is a stock Hetzer supposed to do against a T29?) and it forces you to either sit through hours of gameplay in a tank you hate in order to advance to the next one, or pay with money to get a good premium tank and use that to, (hey, what do you know?) GRIND for the tank of your choice.

Now, once you reach a high tier game, you finally enjoy the game the way it should be. Tank battles where every opponent has a weakness and strength (Hetzer vs T29 is just pure "weak" vs "strong", or a MS-1 nearly one shotting tier 1 tanks). And where it finally takes skill to win instead of whatever team has the biggest baddest tank. (ex: on the loading screen it might look like a equal match up, then you realize one team has stock tanks and the other has fully decked out tanks).

  the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Some of you, including yourself, do not understand the locations that you should be trying to focus on.  Also, no one is "forcing" you to do anything in WoT.   My favorite to play for a while was the T-43.   I killed at least 5 IS-4's by myself because I know how to move, where to shoot and created damage.   As long you are damaging opposing tanks, you are achieving the goal.   If you don't, you relegate yourself to whining about "the spotting system, match maker, and 10's of other excuses that are conjured up".   All you need to do is download and install XVM and you see how fair the matchmaker is.   It comes down to flanking, working those flanks and the skills utilized by 15 players on each side.

Playing solo i've managed to get to 56% wins which is harder than it seems lol.

I am in the top 3% on WOT but it definitely helps to enjoy the game if you have 3 unicums platooned together to carry the bad teams.

If you want to win you had better be killing 4 and damaging 10 and then cap or defend when needed or you won't win alone.

Unfortunately, I don't have mind control and I can't tell the heavies on my team to sit back and let the meds and lights scout. I can't tell our arty to focus on theirs and I can't tell our light tanks to stop doing a banzai charge instead of spotting and retreating. And eventually, I can't tell their T29 to stop shooting my face off if I'm playing a Hetzer because everyone on my team died.

You hit Tier 10 and every tank is an equal match to you. If I couldn't penetrate another tank, it's because of skill, whether it's his skill by angling his tank or it's my skill penetrating/not penetrating the other tank. When my Hetzer does 2% damage to a heavy tank and he blows me to pieces in two shots, that's not skill. That's just the other guy having a bigger and better tank. And before some one yells out (flank it!), how the hell am I going to do that while crawling at 25km/h? Assuming there's no slope.

I didn't say low tier tanks can't be fun (I already mentioned some, Stug, Easy 8, KV-1, Marder). But how many more tanks are just completely boinked because theyre pretty much dead weight (M3 Lee, Hetzer)?

Well you have a KV5 which means you like it enough to drop 33$ on it you myswell try to be good lol.  Yes MM can dump alot of crap on you but having a solid platoon helps alot, even though i rarely do.

This was not my account originally, a friend gave it to me after he quit. I played during the beta, where you didn't have to worry about grinding because everyone was given premium status. I did the German TD line and reached the Jagdpanzer IV before beta ended, with the same play schedule I have now, only one or two games a day for 3-4 months. If it wasn't for the premium status, it would've taken me twice as long.
