Posters spam our BBS main discussion forum with inane & puerile look at me, look what I can do posts that are all about the posters and have little to do with our game.

Can there not be a rule that stipulates posts must be about our game and must be substantive?  I thought we had such a rule, but upon reading them, we do not.

Danny, scan the titles or threads of Open Discussion.  Ask yourself, are these posts about our game or are they about some sort of grudge match player versus player on the BBS?  It's Jr. High bloviating at its worst.

But that is a big part of the game... Player vs player... Grudge matches... Who can pwn whom and how, etc...

Plenty of threads about game mechanics too... For example, about the new stats, the ME410, puffy ack, etc..

"Question", boarder line, topic is how who you learn better from, or maybe a list of who are the best guys flying to learn from 

"Great screen shot from rook/knight", look at me thread, topic is about giving a guy a hard time for blowing up on 200

"change to strats", good thread, topic is on recent changes to start systems and their effects

"kinda cool about the 51" ok thread, should be in the Aircraft and Vehicles sectio, but game related.

"for redbull, eyes only, lag" look at me thread, topic about how to whine about a persons connection because they lost a large number of fights.

"wife needs prayers" look at me thread. should be in the O club. I'm sure we all feel for them, but not game related, this isn't facebook

"been a long time coming" look at me thread, topic is on post count.

"and yet again" look at me thread, should be in films and screen shots section, topic is on a home made movie.

"a certain bomber pilot" look at me thread, topic is about a player complaining about another player bailing from good bombers.

"welcome back vDogfite" look at me/us thread, topic about the return of a "squadmate" should be in squad forums.

Out of ten, two are about the game, the rest are "tooting their own horn" or bad mouthing another player.

I agree, it's starting to look more and more like Facebook.

it kills me to back midway up in any way, but this particular thread started as a genuine and useful contribution showing the effects of lag on 2 players' view of a single deflection shot. its rather disappointing that despite the endless explanations, and even the page dedicated to it on the trainers site, most players are not Understanding Lag and its Effects on Aces High.

"That guy killed me with an impossible shot! No way he could pull that much lead!" he didnt, it just looked that way on your FE.

Of course its understandable that people assume its a look-at-me thread because of the endless other threads he posts like that, but in this case it wasnt.

I'm all for finding rival or friends on the BBS.
As far as discussions that do not pertain to AH, well it would appear that those threads get moved accordingly.

I can see the OPs perspective, but consider the chilling effect on forum participation if lots of people are driven away.  At some point there ceases to be adequate participation and people leaving the forums snowballs.

Wrong.  We love Redbull and were honoring him publicly--- he had a tough night flying lone wolf and we were making light of it in a funny cartoon for an incident where we didn't even shoot him.   The thread did not get out of hand until the 'usual suspects' showed up, and everyone knows who they are.

you ever figure out that those useless posts are the reason why people keep hanging around the bb even after they stopped playing the game?  and that is probably one of the reasons they keep coming back?
