F-35 (yes another one)
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:57:47 PM »
Yesterday at university (the campus is used as the turn for base) I saw a PAIR of F-35's together for the first time. Flying patterns and turning and burning. Normally they will have a chase plane and a single 35 but I guess they have been given a little more freedom.

Unfortunately no pictures but very very cool.

BTW some of you may have heard of it, the F-35 has a very distinct noise that caused a series of big lawsuits in the area. Anywho, its a beautiful noise different from any jet Ive heard before. Its a very deep throaty noise instead of the typical jet.

very cool! from what I've read, the Air Force has recieved a few production F-35s at Eglin and Edwards AFB.

I just hope the Navy doesn't end up nixing it's order of the C model :uhoh

You may think its cool but I hated it in undergrad.  In grad school now about 30 minutes north of NYC at New York Medical but in undergrad several AFB in MA.  Air force were a bunch of Aholes in my opinion.  Seen f22s, f16s, f15s, a10s, c130s, C5s, etc.  Probably the coolest thing was the C5 just in awe how such a giant plane is able to stay in the air at slow speeds during landing.

But hearing f15s and what not deciding to be rude at 8:30-9 in the morning and do tree top fly bys.  At 8:30-9 in the morning I want to be sleeping as long as I can, not get woken up by a some hot shots that think its funny.  They would fly over 1-2 times a week on average and its quite annoying after awhile.  It would be ok if it was in the afternoon but early in the morning just is dumb.

Seeing them fly over during camp in the afternoon, however, was cool as was a distraction from practice as everyone would watch haha.

Grateful being by NYC now though dont have to worry about the damn planes anymore but now have to worry about Lifestar.  That is probably worse.  The hospital is on the same campus as the med school and Lifestar is pretty damn busy here everyday.  Cant get away from the noise sometimes.  Especially when its 3-4am it is pretty awful.
