What do the following words have in common: aspirin, cellophane, escalator, heroin, kerosene, thermos, trampoline, videotape?
At one time these were all trademarked names, but over time, as they became generic words; they lost their trademarks. Why did they lose their trademarks? The owners didn't defend them. As the owner of a trademark, it’s your responsibility to monitor and control the use of your trademark. If you let infringements of your trademark continue without any response at all, you risk losing the legal right to that mark. If you don't take it seriously, the courts won't take it seriously.
