Sea Hurricane
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:31:59 AM »
After having the Hurricane C model with the 4 cannon enables from the cv in the last Sec I did asome admitedly basic research and found this model was also available with a tailhook and perhpas some other slight modification.

Making the Sea Hurricane available seems like a fairly easy addition or just enabling the existing model with a tailhook from the cv. The Hurri is an excellent dog fighter and ground atack plane.

In short I would have thought it easy to convery our existing Hurri 2c into the sea going carrier launched version which would be desireable.

It seen combat, numberous model was the IIB which had 12x .303 machine guns, later for ground attacks it upgraded to IIC with 4x 20mms and 4x rockets.
It did get a few kills, served in quite a few theaters as well.

I wonder how the roll rate suffered with six (all though admittedly small) machine guns stuffed in each wing on the IIB
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

preformed exactly the same as a Hurri Mk. II in every aspect

To heck with the guns, where do you hide enough ammo, inside the fuel tank?

+1, but maybe later. IMO, we could use a bit better coverage for the Japanese CV set first.

All EW, and we run far more special events with Japanese CV aircraft than we do with British. A D4Y, B6N, or B7A would be good.

Well that could be because we don't have any British Carrier aircraft other than the Seafire Mk II.

To be honest, the Sea Hurricane could be used to host quite a few pre-1943 Special Event setups.
Three off the top would be Operation Pedestal/ Malta  Operation Ironclad/Madagascar  and Operation Torch/ Tunisia.

Also I agree with you on the D4Y B6N. As far as the B7A it was never operated from CVs.

Point is that LW is the big attraction, with FSO/scenarios being second. Combign the two, and our biggest hole is probably the Japanese CV set.

I would note that as the Axis rely entirely upon the Japanese for their carrier aircraft it is kinda important that the Japanese carrier aircraft be well represented.

As to the B7A, well, it never operated off of a carrier, but I would like it to be added.  Even if it can't operate from carriers in the MA it would still have a hook and could be allowed on carriers if somebody wanted it to be or a "what if" event was being run.  While not many were built, 114, that is still more than some other units in the game and it would be one of the more potent attack aircraft.
