B-17E/F Model

~S~ Every One!
I do not know if this topic has ever been discuss before. What would be nice is to have the B-17E/F model in the
Early War. Also maybe the B-17F in the Mid War too. The B-17F model flew in the eary to mid war, from 1942 to
about mid 1944. This would be a great addition for the Early/Mid War.  :aok

I agree the E and F would be nice, but I am not sure the E would quite make it into Early War.

If the E won't make it into the EWA, then what if we tacked on the D as well and let it deal with things there? :D

An early war variant of the B17 and the B24 would be very nice to have, then I could and would commission someone to skin my grandfather's B24D he flew from early '43 to early '44.  ("Panzy", with the 5th BG/72nd BS).   :aok

Why not?  Some E models flew the first 8th AF missions out of England.

I think the Lancaster, B-17 and B-24 could use some further early/mid/late difinition/variety/represetnation in AH.  Also the B-25 set would really benefit I think with a late-ware varient (it is the most popular arena), even though we have the B-26.  It would be a good investment of development resource, allied (heavy) bombers are a major attraction of this game.

As much as I think the He-111 is needed eventualy in this game, it's just not as important of a "major atraction" as the B-17, and we only got one of those (this is Lusce's department, but compare this game's number of B-17 drivers (more than 12-24 sorties a tour) to it's jug or 109 or 190 drivers, and then compare that pie chart to the number of aircraft vareities available to those players...).

~S~ Every One!
Thank You for the support on the discussion of the early B-17E/F models.
Yes the B-17E flew the first missions from England. The USAAF's VIII Bomber Command in England flies Mission 1. Twelve B-17E Flying Fortresses of the 97th Bombardment Group (Heavy) based at Grafton Underwood, Northamptonshire, takeoff at 1527 hours. The lead aircraft of the first flight of six is named "Butcher Shop" and is piloted by Colonel Frank A. Armstrong, the group commander; the co-pilot is Major Paul W. Tibbets, the pilot of the B-29 "Enola Gay" which dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima in August 1945. The lead aircraft of the second group is "Yankee Doodle" and this aircraft carries Major General Ira C. Eaker, Commanding General, VIII Bomber Command. The B-17s rendezvous with four squadrons of RAF Spitfire Mk. IXs and proceed to the target, the Sotteville marshalling yard at Rouen France. A second diversion force of six B-17s took off at 1512 hours from Polebrook, Northamptonshire, headed for France but then turned around and returned to base. All 12 aircraft bomb at 1739-1746 hours; the bombing was reasonably accurate with about half the bombs falling in the general target area. The escorts kept Luftwaffe fighters at bay but one Bf 109 got within range and was claimed as damaged by a ball turret gunner. The main force returns to base shortly after 1900 hours. (Jack McKillop)
I just had to put that in because I am the Commanding Officer of the v97th Bomb Group (H). We are a new BG in AH2. We have been together for about 31/2 months now. Some of you must have seen the Group in both Mid/Late War.  That is why I started this thread in hope HiTech will consider making the B-17E/F model for the Early and Mid Wars.
Thank You All for your support.

17F has its place in Aces high, but there are many other aircraft that need to join the game first.
