I've been standing out behind our shop watching the shuttle go over several times. When it comes back I'll get a pic.

It is circling Elington Field for an hour and then will land there for refueling. Word is that it will be on display there for a couple of days so that folks that actually had something to do with it can see it. Then it will be off to static display at some place that had nothing to do with the shuttle program.

As far as I know it is always transported on the back of a modified commercial jet.

We were walking around on the "de-mating rig" at KSC last time we where there and decided it would be the perfect place to stage a remake of "heartbreak hotel".

We pushed back our visit until october because it seems to be raining every single day now.

  I noticed the verticle stabilizers on the rear of the 747. Don't know if they move with the rudder to help as the shuttle must block a great deal of airflow.
