Well, I guess it's time I let her go
« on: September 21, 2012, 07:51:19 PM »
I've finally broke down and admitted that it is time for me to sell my show car.

She was in street customs magazine, has been in over 100 car shows and never - EVER gotten under second place.

As some of you know, I hit three deer in my car and surprisingly it took very little damage. The headlights were cracked, and the front bumper splintered off into a thousand pieces which is actually what kept it from taking a lot of damage. The only thing holding me back is re-molding the fenders, but I just don't have the time to keep her up and repair her. It's not right to let her sit.

Here's some photos of her before the accident (that most of you have seen before):

(Apparently spoiler tabs don't work)

On the one below - notice the little car modeled after my car :)

Some of the trophies

Magazine clipping

The car is actually this color yellow (not sure why it came out lighter in the other photos) -below-

A glimpse inside at night. It's like an air traffic control tower. :P

Anyway, this is how she looks at the moment (except I have the bumper on right now-unpainted).

uuhhhmmmm....so you took a Mercedes and added some flares and bling bling, complete with a fart can and a bottle of NOS (if it really is NOS), threw in a few coloured wires and its a show car?

Oops, forgot the spoiler on the trunk, that oughta make her go.

Do the speakers have that "BBBmmmmmFFFF! BBBmmmmmFFF! sound when you put in the eminem CD?

Sorry, just don't see it.

Good luck getting your money back out of it. It isn't exactly a "classic".

On the up-side, kids these days will buy anything with bling bling.

Oh, wait...its not a Mercedes? It's a Honda?  well......will wonders never cease!

Lol the car has won me up to four thousand dollars in big car shows. You may hate it, but the judges love it.

It makes money, the magazine publishers love it, and the haters envy it.

And the "It's not made in 'merikuh types" - well, I don't call "Built in Mexico, assembled in USA" ...."Made in the USA" - let alone an American vehicle.

---
And it's such a shame to see someone who decides hating on a newer age show car is good just because it's not a 1960's hot rod.
If I could drop 80 grand into a car, sure. I'd have one. I'd love one, but I can not afford to fix one up or purchase one at this point.

If you'd like me to get one, please; by all means give me the funds to purchase one.

I did something no one had ever done before, achieved a dream and have decided it's time to turn it over to someone who shares that passion.

I have to agree with RTR a bit, I think it's a beautiful car however, the whole gaming console/tv's/NOS etc., just isn't my thing. I do agree with ya though Marine, that's what folks want and it I still think it's a sexy car.  :salute

I may not like the newer show cars, but you can't say it isn't a damn nice ride for what it is. Im sure your grandpappy didnt approve of your style either RTR.

heh, well good luck.

I'd say you probably just outgrew it and hopefully some starry eyed teen will drool and sell his soul to you for it.

But really, it's a Honda with a fart can and some leather and fiberglass.

Not my type, but I'm sure somebody will want it....you can always hope.

That car is amazing. Such a shame that you cant keep it, its a piece of art on wheels. Very nice car and I know that if I had one, i'd hate to see it go. As for what RTR has said, don't pay it no attention. Some people don't like it and will make sure you know it, I personally think you could have gotten something a bit better, but with what you have I would say its very nice.

Exactly. However I'm not really qualified to give such an in-depth analysis as RTR and the other car guys. To me, it's just a way to work and back, picking up the kiddos from school and daily driving. So, my little '09 Mitsubishi Galant 4 banger works well for that. Having said that, I still think it's a bad bellybutton looking car and I can appreciate all the work you've put into it. I'm not a wrench turner whatsover, I can barely change my oil.  :lol

I am my Grandpappy, son.

LOL...I'm just old and don't like change. Cars have big motors and fat tires, that's just the way it is. Nothing fake about them, no fart cans, they just really sounded that good.

xD  :rofl

I LOVE and I mean LOVE old school hot rods, but I can't afford something like that at the moment.

My dad actually has a 1973 Pontiac Ventura Sprint GTO that he let get in bad shape. I wish I could afford to restore it.  :cry

Heh, sorry for busting your balls, I really am old. I see these things all over town and always have the same reaction...."WTH???"

In truth, it really is a sharp looking ride to someone who is in to that kind of style and Kudo's on the magazine spread.

But...a Honda with a Fart can?

Give it a few years, save your pennies, you will do better than that, of that I am sure.

Old school muscle isn't as unattainable as you think $$ wise.

Hope you get what you ask for it anyway.

Hehe thanks. These cars are actually pretty rare down here (south Georgia) so they break a lot of necks haha.

She does have a tad more than a fart can though. :P
And at least it's a deep (non-bee sounding), smooth growl instead of "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA -pop- WAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa -pop- buuuuuuuuuuuuuwwaaaaaaaa!"  :rofl

You can kind of hear it in the video (the shaking of a loose piece of metal makes it sound like the cheap fart cans). It also has a cut out that changes the sound + gives me 5 more HP when I decide to go beat around an old air strip. (Ooooooooooo 5 HP!  :lol )

lol, that is a nice looking ride Marine, but i'm in with RTR, if the thing needs nos yer doin it wrong. sell that sucker and save up for an old school muscle project. considering what you did with that ricer, i can only imagine what you could do with some detroit muscle.

Don't discount 5 hp. Its like 5 extra 1,000lb beasts hauling your butt down the strip.

But you would be amazed what you can get out of a good block with the right pistons and heads.

I do see the appeal and recognize the work and effort you put into that car though. Still, I think you won't get your $$ back, but none of us really do I guess anyway.
