Radar At Strat City
« on: September 23, 2012, 11:41:06 AM »
Since the Strategic Targets are now so valuable, shouldn't the Air Ministry erect a radar tower there to direct aerial defenders?

there are enough indications of what is happening at strats if you just watch the clipboard. As it is it takes some planning and some luck on both sides to get the mission done.  When the strats are forward the are surrounded by radar which must either be penetrated for the "fast" straight in approach or evaded which slows down the approach and makes it easier to catch the bombers as you are not restricted to evading the radars.  The fighters and the bombers both have a "reasonable" chance to attempt there missions.

     Talking politics is forbidden  :D

I disagree though, but only in terms of gameplay.  If a large bomber stream ups for a strat run, one of the best parts is interacting with fellow countryman to get their exact heading, alt, numbers, type, escort? etc.  Spelling it out for us would give the defenders a bigger advantage, and in some part remove the country teamwork that exists to make for a better interception.
That and the attackers already have it rough if they make a strat run.  It's high risk for them, and time consuming, and the enemy will be sending spaceships up to counter, and IF they make their strike, they should at least have a shred of hope to bring it home.  Right now I highly doubt that they do.  which makes me think of a wish... :noid

I don't think it would be very useful.  By the time the attackers show on it even an Me163 wouldn't be able to intercept before the bombs were released.

... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB
