More churn will be made over this meaningless non-conference game than the Super Bowl because "the good guys" (GB is a favorite in all of the Sportcaster's eyes) were at the toejamty end of a few bad calls by non-union refs. Tough crap, please start chewing harder. Sometimes the heros die.

And worst yet, no one will remember the game for what they SHOULD remember the game for...the outstanding defense that Seattle put on the field AGAIN...first dismantling the Cowboys 27-7 last week and then holding Rodgers to ZERO touchdowns and sacked 8 times!

These officials need to go back to their day jobs as lunch room monitors and the NFL need to get the BEST possible refs out there. Get it done or call up the deserving college refs who are next in line.

Rip I don't know if you are pointing at me or everyone...I didn't give a hoot who won that game...but some of these pictures that are being made because of the whole situation with the refs are just hilarious.

Hehe. They've definitely been on the rise the past couple years. Being a Saints fan, when they beat them in the postseason I started to realize it.

NFL comment today:

News release this morning from the NFL Officiating Dept: "When the players hit the ground in the end zone, the officials determined that both Tate and Jennings had possession of the ball. Under the rule for simultaneous catch, the ball belongs to Tate, the offensive player. The result of the play was a touchdown.

Replay Official Howard Slavin stopped the game for an instant replay review. The aspects of the play that were reviewable included if the ball hit the ground and who had possession of the ball. In the end zone, a ruling of a simultaneous catch is reviewable. That is not the case in the field of play, only in the end zone.

Referee Wayne Elliott determined that no indisputable visual evidence existed to overturn the call on the field, and as a result, the on-field ruling of touchdown stood. The NFL Officiating Department reviewed the video today and supports the decision not to overturn the on-field ruling following the instant replay review.

The result of the game is final."

I agree with Ripsnort.  Bad calls will happen, with real refs or replacement refs.  In the end, Seattle won the game.  It is just as much Green Bay's fault as it is anyone else's.  They got themselves into that position.  Plus, all he had to do was swat the ball and the game was ovef.  :bhead

This is just another prime example of why I don't watch NFL football.  It is nothing but a show, and all anyone is worried about is the money.

I'm going to repeat what EVERYONE told the Seahawks fans back in 2006 when bad calls went OUR way in a game that actually MEANT something, where the REAL officials totally blew SB40th and even ADMITTED that they blew that game..and here it ...is...-->.

Get over it. Bad calls happen. Quit yer whoopee whining and move on. It's over. We won. Bad calls happen with replacement refs, with real refs.

If your team gave up 8 sacks you have MUCH bigger issues than a badly reffed game. We should have had 12 sacks, but the refs stopped calling the holds on our defensive line in the 2nd half.  :rofl

You realize this game probably had around 20 bad calls? Did you even see it or are you simply repeating yourself without regard to the subject at hand?

Replay showed without a doubt the offensive guy had one hand on the ball.... the defender that caught it had 2 hands and the ball against his chest. They played it over and over last night and there was no doubt the defender had possession.

As far as having a favored team in the game.... I think both of them are not very good.

Count how many hands were on the ball when they hit the ground. That's what determines it.
The ball was still live when they  were airborn.  :neener:

According to every sportscaster out there, and about 50 tweets from other NFL players after the game that call was bunk.

According to one guy on an internet forum that call was good.

Call must have been good.

P.S.  You forgot this in your quote of the NFL's response.

Quote
While the ball is in the air, Tate can be seen shoving Green Bay cornerback Sam Shields to the ground. This should have been a penalty for offensive pass interference, which would have ended the game. It was not called and is not reviewable in instant replay.
To each their pwn.
