Nope. He tried,but they had already hired Mike Mangini. An equally skilled drummer,but without the massive ego. DT's last release "A Dramatic Turn of Events" is imo their best effort to date.

I hit shuffle and can have anything from symphony - death metal .... possibly a current favorite right now is Grace Jones... or when the martians invade ... war of the worlds ... hmmm there is murder ballads by Nick Cave that i am quite liking also......ahhh  man ... I really don't have a favorite....I just like music....the less lyrics the better

Yeah, I think Mangini holds the record for most BPM, right?  Last I heard Portnoy was playing with A7X after The Rev died.  Saw him on That Metal Show and he planned on doing an album with someone, but I can't remember who.

Ok, I'm done hijacking 

I try not to listen to anything while flying, but on the rare occassions I do, I listen to stuff like Metallica (always been my favorite band, but I tend to listen to the Justice album and older), Zep, Pink Floyd, pretty much anything.
