Perks for purchase and perks required for some stuff
« on: October 04, 2012, 02:33:31 PM »
That's right. Add a little in-game purchasing. Want more perk points cause you're a tard (like myself) who have a hard time earning perk points but want to buy say...300 perk points to take a Me-262 up in the MA, or that 3-bomber AR234 sortie? $5.

Maybe some heavier ordanance should be perked too? I.e. 1000lb bombs. Want to load up a LANC with 1000lbers? That'll cost you 20 perk points per bomber (and if you have 3 bombers- that 60 perk points).

I see a very happy marriage between the ability to buy your way into the perked stuff and the ability to just purchase perkies.

Besides, someone has to pay for that new EXTRA Hitech wants to buy. :D

so spending a few hours in Early War or Mid War when the sides are severely unbalanced not good enough?

1 sortie in a G4M with a perk bonus of 5.0 will yield over 100 perks and that's barely 20min of work...

Same can be said with Jabos - heck kill a few people while you're at it... 3 kills and/or few objects destroyed can yield 50-100 perks

I guess it all come down to laziness...

No, it comes down to some of us have lives outside the game. The few hours I have a week I prefer to spend them in the populated MA.

As long as we can still earn perks, as it is now, I'm all for it.
HiTech can take the extra revenue generated and put it into the game.  (please don't use it to trick out the RV-8)

-1  I am and never will be for the (pay to win) style of game.   Want perks?  Then get in an old ride and kick the crap out of someone. I find this to be very rewarding and fun while at the same time giving me the perks I need for what ever I need. :)

And when you lose your $5 262 due to a disco, are you going to put the credit card charge in dispute?

It can have it's benefits for those whom don't have a lot of time to earn the perks to fly the perk planes.  However, for those that do have the time it really isn't fair to them.   I've played games that had this option, where you could buy the equivalent of "in-game cash" for real life money.  It never ended well.  Not saying it wouldn't necessarily work for Aces high, but I wouldn't want to please a few people, to have Aces High lose a bunch.     :old:

If it is added to the game then it would have to be meticulously balanced.

As for now though I'm more leaning towards "no" than "yes".

Still a good idea though, just not sure if it's right for Aces High.   :salute

Would it not be closer to some sense of fairness to allow players to give each other perks if they choose? There have been many times I would have given my squadmates a few perks so we all could up 262 for a mass squad lawndarting expedition. I have bomber and GV points I never use that I've wished I could have passed on to a few freinds over the years.

In many cases perks are the results of hard expended effort to achive them. Allowing the purchase of perks would be the ultimate negation to any vestages of the belief there is merit to putting in the effort to earn perks and the benifits of those rides. Ones wallet would become a social polarization source fostering a sense that the perked rides benifits can be purcashed instead worked for and your $14.95 is only a table anti up chip before the wallets come out. That some are "Plastic AmEx Heros" versus those who pay their ACM dues one bullet at a time.

If it would ever be implimented, there is the danger of a few players incurring credit card bills they might not be prepaired or capable of paying. In the AW days, the internet access bills becasue of how engrossing the game became, for some players was in the hundreds of dollars. It might be possible for some greif minded players to goad others visa ch200 or PM to have unexpectedly large AH bills as a new greifing sport. Or, we know how much drinking and flying goes on. Drinking and using your credit card is a dangerous "personal finance" combination in real life. You see this at casinos and this game has simliar emotions involved as gambling.

It's very easy to burn through 2000 perks in one evening while drinking and augering 262 from my personal experience.

Put a no refund policy in the terms of use and make people agree to it. Most probably will anyway.
