Stunning pick for a thread.  The Schubert is more familiar to me.  Just listened to Bach/Gonoud and it's wonderful, too.  They both make me feel the presence of Our Lady.

Oh... I like like the Aussie (Mirusia Louwerse) who tours with Andre Rieu.  Talk about the voice of an angel, she is also easy on the eyes.  

Just watch the video and see how she puts the audience in a trance.  Amazing stuff.

Bocelli is good, I enjoy listening to him. For me though no one comes close to Pavarotti.

Not bad, one of the better renditions I've heard with a man singing and I say that with all due respects to the late Maestro Luciano Pavarotti.  I think Ave Maria is best sung by a woman (unless that woman is Aretha Franklin, then I'll take anyone including the neighbor's dog over her screeching), but that is my opinion.

I feel the same way. Of course the men singing are talented... extremely talented... but to me this song just doesn't sound right with a man singing it.
