Connection woes.....
« on: October 14, 2012, 04:47:35 PM »

Skuzzy you were (the other night ) warning again of the woes of BT internets connectivity...and you have rolled eyes at my Ping plots before........ but its seems some what worse now.

BT (the UK's #1 most popular ISP and indeed the back bone supplier to many others) does not listen to any conversations re packet loss ( a man in Deli told me it was not a problem {all I had to do was buy his faster line} and he was an "expert"...I'd just been transferred to him from the man in Calcutta......or was it Bombay?)

So whilst your playing with ISP's is there a route into/from the UK that your ISP would favour most. Could I even open an account with him.....could even AH provide an "no garantee but preffered" ISP service for us poor BT ridden Brits.

How many of us would have to subsrcibe to make it viable at say another $10-15 a month?

Tilt, I have already noted the issues with the BT route and have plans to work with the ISP to see what can be done with the routes. It will take a few business days.

My Host Queue time (Milliseconds)  look the same as yours.  This started on Friday after Skuzzy rebooted the arenas to update the servers.  Until this update on Friday I had a solid line in the host queue time.  Although Skuzzy said that he would be monitoring the servers over the weekend, my crappy connection has continued.  Hopefully, this Monday will bring changes back to the original settings.

I forgot to add that skuzzy said on Friday that he would be using a new ISP for the late war arena (for the update).  In view of this info I went to the early war and mid war arenas and found that I had solid lines in the host queue time in both arenas.

Exactily same problem to me from Spain. My Host Queue time (Milliseconds)  look the same as yours.

I have to add that I've been running AH without any Disco for several months (6-7), and on Friday I had one.

Btw, I logged back in less than 1 minute and the flight re-launcher didn't work.

It is only the Late War arena which has changed.  All other arenas have had no changes to them.

If you are having any issues with the Late War arena, then try the other arenas and see what happens.  Also note, you are free to run Ping Plots to the new server and the old server for the Late war.

That does not help me Wizer.  I can only trace back to you.  The data coming from your computer is taking a different path than the one it takes back to you.

Ping Plots will help.

Better.

Infact when we chatted online  the Host Queue time in game was better than shown here but I guess that's down to local usage building during EST -CST evenings.

You will note  the PL% just prior (BT's eu switch) and post the Atlantic hop. In fact the 207.88.#.# are pretty poor on PL.  Is there a reason I should not be worried about PL reports from pinged US servers?

Thanks for your work re this...........  really appreciated.

You need to address BT about the packet loss within the BT network.  Not much I can do there and until it is cleared up it makes the rest of the ping plot meaningless as packet loss always impacts anything after it happens.

Wizer, how is your host queue looking now?  We did make a change the day before yesterday which should have helped clear it up, unless there are real network issues in the way.
