Actually cats survive falls from terminal velocity. So the cat would have most likely lived. Obviously the cat would have died from the lack of atmosphere though.
He would have froze to death first. All our military ejection seats etc. were set to open below 14,000ft and his fall was only 4 1/2 minutes or so If I'm remembering right Kitty's brain might not be fried in 2-3 minutes...
