Tanks and Level Of Detail question (large pic!)
« on: October 17, 2012, 07:58:21 PM »
Hey folks, maybe you can help me with this :)
I just put a new GPU in my gaming rig and now I have weird low-res tank models/rendering issues in ground combat.
See the linked image (size is a bit wonky, sorry):
What I mean is the skirts on Rammlied's T-34. They don't look right. And they don't look like they used to.
Is there a setting that fixes this?

I am going to bet that you are overloading your machine.  Just from looking at the pic I would say that your resolution can be decreased (lower resolution, means less pixels to render per frame).  But there are many other things that are minimal eye candy that I don't find it necessary to run while playing.  The newest additions in bump mapping, ground detail, water reflections, shadows, etc I leave turned off and view them later by turning them back on and running filmviewer.

I hope you find your answer soon, because the T34 looks like it should be in the local High School parade or we need a Deathmobile skin from the movie Animal House.

dxdiag can be found here.

Reducing resolution is not an option because that's the native display res. I did try different settings in AH, cranking the quality sliders up and down, but the rendering problem remains the same.

i hope you do more than gaming on that workstation you're using...running a xeon isn't goin to anything more for ah performance than an i5. was that dxdiag run after a fresh system start? the amount of memory being used on your paging file is 3 times what it should be.

can you post screenshots of your advanced ah graphics settings and your nvidia graphics control panel settings?

Yes, reducing the resolution in the video settings menu of Aces High IS AN OPTION (All other programs will maintain the native resolution and only when the game is loaded would the resolution be reduced).  I had also heard that native display is the "preferred" selection, however you might want to confer with others for solid advice (this is only what has helped me).

The good news is, your gunnery was still accurate.  WTG on 6 killz.  :salute

If I was reading it right I saw 2 things on your Dx

1 you have a boat load of shared memory on your vid card...

2 it seems your drivers for that card is out of date.

Skuzzy might have a better outlook on this but that is just my opinion.
