A plane customising feature
« on: October 20, 2012, 12:35:12 AM »
I was thing that there should be a plane customising feature so that it would be easier to skin planes and stuff. Like colour change, camo change, and stuff like that.

If it wasn't historical, it won't be added in Aces High.

You can skin for yourself however, offline only.

Actually this is 100% possible already...

IF you edit a skin, and put it back into your skin folder... YOU and ONLY you can see it... Sure it would defeat the purpose but you can have your customized plane...

I always wondered what if other folks add it too, would they see it on your plane?

Only offline. This does not work online. Once online your game loads the online skins index and loads the standard skins. This prevents people from doing undesirable things that might give them an advantage when flying online.

Back when I played 1st person shooters I could modify all the skins to hot pink making the enemy easier to see.  Can that be done to tanks here? That would suck.
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

I was gonna say there's no way that should be able to work online. If it did, everyone would be flying around with a transparent skin..

Makes sense. Not knowing anything about programming other than it is a language all its own I was just thinking if you put it in and selected it for yourself and others had that in their skins folder it would show up too. Good answer.

because you can make the default skin bright orange and disable other player's skin and that will give you an advantage over the others..  remember the skin you add is not going to be displayed by the other players, it will only be seen by you.

same reason neon skins were considered cheats in first person shooters back in the day...think about how it works and you will understand.
