Karnak,
I did not complain that our VI is not tough enough - I was hoping that if we get a XVIII it will be even tougher. My only complaint about the ability of the VI to take damage is the twin engines. You might think that they give you twice the chance to return home, but they way I see it, they give you twice the change to catch fire.

You point about the XVI is interesting. I did not try to dive it to 500 mph yet. With the VI I often break the wings. Even a light G load at 480 mph can break its wing and it seems extra sensitive if the ball is not centered (i.e. some skidding), or if there are bombs in the bay. I have never seen any high speed dive test reports for the mosquito, so I cannot comment how historical this is. Is there some speed limit in the pilot's manual?
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

I've never read of a Mk XVI being escorted by another Mosquito.

I've never read about P-51D's and F4U-4's attacking B24's or 109G6's shooting down A6M5b's either.

I've put the 16 in a 500mph dive, out diving a 190D and pony d. You just have to be careful on pullout.
