Does anybody recognize this painting?
« on: October 25, 2012, 08:32:13 AM »
This is a re-print that has been hanging in my house since before we bought it. I really like it and have been trying to find more info on it, but unfortunately the artists name is not legible.

Has anyone here seen this before and/or does anyone know who may have painted it?

Totally wrong, but my first thought was "Caress of Steel"  album cover.

Naturally as an artist myself I know all about the history of art. This piece is entitled: 'A Fine Afternoon's Thrashing in the Bushes with Ms. Prendegast' by William Godfrey Preversion. Current value estimated at over one million Euro, or tweny six million Dollars.

Looks like something Turner or Constable might turn out. But there were a lot of those English landscape artists who painted similar pictures. If you can make any part of the artist's signature Googling a list of English lanscape artist migh turn up something. Presumably he might be well know if someone went to the trouble making prints.

I saw the original on display in Atlanta many years ago 94 or 95.
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

You best lay off painting like that, you'll go blind and your palms will get hairy.

Naw, a brand new print is going for ~$75. This one is old and dirty. I bet I could buy a cold six pack with the proceeds.

Of course, I love the painting and won't part with it.
