The Aleutian Campaign




The Aleutian Islands Campaign was a
struggle over the Aleutian Islands,
part of the Alaska Territory, in the
Pacific campaign of World War II starting
on 3 June 1942. A small Japanese
force occupied the islands of Attu
and Kiska, but the remoteness of the islands
and the difficulties of weather and terrain
meant that it took nearly a year for a far
larger U.S. force to eject them. Similarly,
the U.S. feared that the islands would be used
as bases from which to launch aerial assaults
against the West Coast.

why does allied have 4 fighters....and axis only 1....that seems a bit off to me.

Combination of history and the existing AH plane set.  During this period the Japanese didn't really have that many different fighters, certainly not based in the Aleutians.  A complete plane set would include the float zeros which played a big role there.

I figured as much, but for fairness and playability they should at least give the axis a second fighter and remove 1 of the allied, that would still give the allied 1 more fighter then the axis......not a major biggie I dont have a dog in this fight..... just my thoughts on it.

Ink has a good point.

 Plus A6M2s having to attempt to bring down the B-24 B-17 and B-26, I doubt they can catch them. I'm not knocking anything or anybody. A couple friends and I were thinking of joining in on the Thursday Pigfest. Looking at this week's setup everybody will want to be Allied and nobody Axis. We will probably hang out until next week and give her a try then. Again not a criticism or complaint just an observation.

I added some new Japanese toys (A6M3, A6M5 & KI-61).  Not historical, but definitely bumps the fun level.
