Perk heavy ordinance
« on: November 06, 2012, 09:19:06 AM »
Yep - perk ordinance over 500lbs in the MA LWA.  Want to take a Lanc up with 1000lb irons - the loadout costs 5 perks per 1000lb+ bomb. Same for German iron.

I think this could limit the over use of heavy bomber/fighter suicide JABO's.  Or stop them from GAMING the GAME.

Just an idea.

I would say perk them on fighters, not on bombers.

Yup perk big bombs........... if you want them then earn them......... (all of them)

The snail will tell you that lb for lb the 500's are better any way.

per bomb

1000lb = 2 perks
2000lb = 4 perks
4000lb = 8 perks

if you land successfully you keep the perks. (formation stuff pro rata)

If you perk heavy bombs the same for fighters and bombers, the desired effect will dissipate.

Remove the 1000lb and 500kg bombs from the load out options for fighters.  No need to perk then.

The desired effect I would wish for is a reduction in ord use over 500lb's.................. plus free access (at a price) to any ac or any valid loadout in the AH arsenal.

Open for debate IMO is the price...........

if perked ords come in it should be based on typical usage imo. I like to fly what the RAF did so for regular sorties mossie, typhie, thunderbolt, spit - all with 500lbers, or rockets depending on the target. they all fly fine with 500lbers. if its a "special" target like a ship or a hangar I'll take 2x1,000lbers, no rockets. the typhie and jug are complete dogs with a 1,000lbers under each wing any way, and I'd have no problem with paying a few perks for the overloadout.

I'd like to know what % of D jug/pony combat sorties were flown with the full AH loadout in WWII? I'd guess alot less than 1% ...

edit: I suspect the 2x1,000 jug loadout might have been fairly common with the USAAF (and maybe the USN hogs too?), this could reasonably be the heaviest non-perked fighter loadout.

Perk the bombs in fighters.  I agree with that.  But earn the perks by bombing ground targets in attack mode.

Separate attack perkies from fighter perkies IMHO.  Fly in attack mode and get perks for it, then apply those perkies to attack mode aircraft and apply those perkies to get more bomb.

As far as perking bombs in the bombers.  I disagree.  But...   ...perking the bombers (not the bombs) a tad bit more than they are now would help stop the dive bombing lancs.  I think that is a great idea.

Or, as some would say, shoot the bombers down in the first place and problem solved!   :x
