I've tried using this command, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

If you are on a base and trying to coordinate capturing it, is this the right command and how do you use it to figure out when the auto-ack will come back up and kill your ib troops?

Setdowntime would be used in offline and private arenas. It is used to adjust the arena parameters.

The .dt command it used in the arenas to check how long an object will be down.

Yes thank you, ".dt"

I was told this command does not work in the MA, is that true? I was told that people have timers on their stick(s) and that is how they know how much more time before a hangar or the auto-ack pops.

The .dt command works in all arenas. You can even use the clipboard to look at all the arena settings to see what everything is set at - object hardness, ack strength, colors, flight mode flags, country switch times, win the war perks, etc.

Ok, ty. Well then I must be typing something incorrectly. I have read the thread linked previously and tried the way it was explained in several variations but always came up with "invalid object."
I was typing (something like) for example:
.dt F144VHH001


Would you tell me where I've got it wrong?

If the base only has one vehicle hangar, try 000 (numbering seems to start at zero for objects). You can also leave off the number and it will tell you if all objects of that type are "alive" (undamaged) or which ones are down and how much longer they will stay down.

Yes this is working, thank you. I do occasionally still get an invalid object, I'll start recording when/where etc. about the times it's not working. But this is a very helpful command. The one thing about typing in town, or "twn" is it shows/fills up your text box with all the objects and all I really want to know is the guns "gng" 
Any suggestions about town guns only?
