Turkeys don't really fly that well.

I didn't think they flew at all until about 5 years back a small flock was walking in the parking lot of one of my facilities hangars.
I must have startled a couple of them and they took off and flew about 30 foot up into some trees across the road.  Dang things
sounded like turbine helicopters when they took off  :D

The ones at Morristown were supposedly wild, but extremely comfortable around people and loud noises.

Well, Google's results are a bit off. Sure they can, in short bursts, which is how they nest in trees, however they cannot fly long distances, or even very far at all. Have you ever seen one attempt to "take off"? It's a pretty funny sight.

I think the best comparison is a fully loaded Jug.  In a dive they look like a fat kid to cake... but much more graceful.

Taking off from level ground... not so much.

IMO, Ben Franklin was on to something.  The American Wild Turkey is a much cooler animal than it's given credit for.   :old:

Hows about "You roasted was prepared by SkyChef " and "SkyChef of the Flying Chefs roasted 4 turkeys in a peashooter" in place of the normal kill messages?  :neener: :D
