Radio Voice Procedure
« on: November 21, 2012, 02:47:10 AM »
All of a sudden I am hearing people shouting "Solid Copy" and "How Copy" whilst playing. Yes we have all seen Generation Kill but does it really have a place in an environment unaffected by range, line of sight, atmospherics, interferance etc? :bhead

I wish people would use the wish list forum to post their brilliant ideas, and be smart enough to not post all their stupid ones.

But I am under no disillusions of my wish ever being fulfilled.

I just laugh at them over vox, or a simple lol would do. Even funnier is the people who says:

"Help me! There's 5 of them" - Ok...where? - "Behind me!" -_-

Enemy plane explodes - "I got him" - Duh? (only exception are planes that are missing tails/wings, so everyone knows not to go after that con, I do that all the time)

I remember having one guy who said copy and Roger after every single vox transmission. Funny at first, just annoying after a minute. Squelch.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Rgr is fairly normal, after too many years to remember in Military signals I often say roger to the other half accidentally, but some things you hear are a little much.
We are all living a bit of a childish dream playing cartoon planes but I don't want to be reminded of it too much

Oh yea, I say Roger all the time, it's when you say it in every single freaking sentence that has me scratching my head wondering if the guy has a helmet on while playing.

I have not heard the how copy you reference, but have recently heard winchester used a couple ways where previously I had heard bingo used. Not that either made sense to me.

Bingo is fuel down to minimum for RTB

Winchester is out of ammo.

Bingo - at minimum fuel for safe return
Winchester - out of ammo

I still say "radio check radio check" when I want to make sure I'm getting through, and "say again" when someone else doesn't (never say "repeat"!!)

Voice procedure is a powerful tool, but most of it doesn't apply to our environment.  Most players don't know how to use the parts that do.

Same for battle procedure, alas!
