So... I've been landing on carriers off and on for the past two months thinking that the hook came down automatically and I just wasn't hitting it right. I'd slow to a stop about 1/2 to 3/4 down the flight deck. While training for Hostile Shores, I discovered that you have to manually set the hook.
Doh! Landing sure is easier now...
Guess it works for training. Land without the hook. If you can do that, when you add the hook, it's simple.
