Well today was the opening day of deer season here in PA. Been hunting 30+ years and never got something this big. Im so excited i could just explode!!!!  Today was my sons first day hunting ever......This is how we made out.  I got this about 3pm today. I tried and tried to help my son see it, but he just couldnt. After he looked at me and said..."DAD YOU HAVE TO SHOOT IT!!!" i figured ok.

I got this with the gun my dad bought me when i was 13yrs old, and field dressed it with the knife he got me for my 14th birthday (Im 41 now).

I had to share this with all my friends here....this really means alot to me having lost my hunting buddy (Dad) 2 years ago.

God would he be PROUD of me and his grandson!!!

I've always wished my dad had taken me hunting, and it's going to be something that I do with my kids for sure. You're very lucky. :rock

Nice buck!!  I'm still hunting for my wall hanger.  I've killed several good sized bucks, but never anything of that size.  Had it had been me and my dad, it would have been a fight over the gun and the deer would have gotten away  :bhead  Congrats of the kill.  Is your son hooked?

Took me 30yrs Josh.....And oh yea, my son is hooked. I just hope he doesnt think this is how it is every year  LOL.....Im taking him to the mountains at the end of the week, to a friends 99acre farm, so with some luck he will connect with something. Im a meat hunter, never did find a good recipie for antlers.....and thats the way hes gonna learn.

 He stayed home from school today to help me take it to the butcher, and the head to the Taxidermist.  :aok

Nice kill. Hunting is one of my favorite pastimes. With all the digital distractions nowadays the youngsters need to get out more.

This was taken in  Haycock Township, Bucks County PA... thats a Shotgun only zone.
