Hurricane screen shots
« on: December 06, 2012, 09:19:15 AM »
It seems to me that this is mostly a cleanup of the Hurricane with one, possibly two new models. They have the Sea Hurricane, which is new and a great addition. Then they seem to have a version with 12 .303s. Not sure if that is new or not but...

So are we two weeks away from everyone upping a Sea Hurricane? WTG on this new release. Next up is the Japanes J2M3 Raiden/Jack, at least that is the rumor I am starting.

mthrockmor,

Other than raising the Hurricanes to AH2 standards they are adding the Sea Hurricane Mk Ib/Ic and changing the Hurricane Mk IIc to also allow the eight .303 "a" wing and twelve .303 "b" wing rather than just the four 20mm Hispano "c" wing.

I, too, fully endorse the J2M3/J2M3a addition.

I am not sure, but I would guess the same as with the eight .303s in the Hurricane Mk I now.  I don't think the ammo per gun changed.  Something like 17 seconds as I recall.

Man thats a lot of added weight then, i wonder if the spit wings can handle that much load at high G's.

Four .303s+ammo isn't all that heavy.  They aren't big guns.

Also, what do Spit wings have to do with it?

Well i figured each .30 cal gun itself is what, 30lbs alone..and with more ammo wight all seated i assume more to the wing tips that the G forces would be much greater then current spits endure.

Just wondering how the added weight will effect the a/c. :)

There are no Spitfires involved.  Hurricanes are a completely different airplane.  As to increased G forces, the location of the weight doesn't matter and the Hurricane Mk IIc with four 20mm cannons is carrying more weight in guns and ammo than the Hurricane Mk IIb will be with twelve .303s.

That said, many pilots removed the outer four .303s from their Hurricane Mk IIb because they said the extra guns had a disproportionately negative effect on handling.  Most likely, I would guess, in roll acceleration.
