Dear Lord!
« on: December 13, 2012, 01:32:48 PM »
So the past three days of playing have been complet heck,if a bad thing can happen it has. From losing my ailerons diving in a hurrie (I'm new to the hurrie) and SkyRock finally owning me because of it,To slashing buffs that are low ,as two country men crawl right up his six,he fire's at them till i pass and 1 ping there goes my wing, they shoot him in mean time.
We are taking a base, an la ups he dose a few loops about 300 off the ground, i dive take a snapshot at him, turn around a hanger and tree,la gets my kill.
Went to go to a fight on climbout 1 puff of ack second puffy ack blood on windscreen, third puffy tower.
I dive on a hurrie about 1k behind him im at speed in b pony about 2 k above him he rolls over i do a wide yoyo back at him snapshot go vert never dumping speed,at the top of my climb this hurrie II catches me and shoots my tail off,ReVo the first hurrie in a long time kills me.
This and many more things have happend in the past three days to kill me ,i in the years playing have never been in such a funk,i am trying my hardest to play through this.
So we all go though funks,my question is when you get in one, what do you do if anything to get back on the happy side of life?

SkyRock???  Are you sure???  I thought he was BFF with Ben Dover?

To get back on the happy side of life simply up the plane of your choice, know what that plane can and can not do well, and then go have fun.  Most of all remember that no matter what the sun will rise tomorrow morning.  :aok

I pull the convergence in and get real close to them before firing.  Found that this helps to get me back on track.  Forces you to fly your butt off to get close or attain a firing position.  Mentally tell myself less than 200 or you can't fire.  It'll make you sweat on the cons that are maneuvering. :aok

get on vox with a group of idiots and take the piss out of each other....steal kills...force a killshooter on them...and all the while telling them what you are doing..... forget about score (if you do worry about it) and most of all forget about the bad events happening...the more you try to improve the situation the worse things get (well for me anyway)...stepping back and having a more cavalier attitude doesn't get you in the top 10...but it sure saves pain and suffering of animals... and just keep it on the down low...but I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend that rooks have a wooly joy division  :uhoh .... might be worth a look .....but you didn't hear it from me :bolt:

Haven't been playing that long but have definitely gotten into inexplicable funks.  I'm a golfer and ex-baseball player, so I'm perfectly able to handle this.  I do one or more of the following:

  • Move my joystick calibration settings.  Not nearly enough to make any difference.  Just enough to say I did it
  • Change the skin of my plane
  • Go on a bombing milk run.  It's boring, sucks, and is gamey but sometimes you must do something successfully to prove to yourself you are not a worthless idiot
  • Kick the nearest domesticated animal (apologize and give them an extra treat later)
  • Change something about my desk/monitor/joystick position/chair height
  • Adjust room temperature
  • Begin drinking heavily (or stop drinking if applicable - yeah right :rofl)
  • Demand wife leave the premises immediately (wear proper headgear and hearing protection)
  • Display some sort of women's undergarment (I will not expressly advocate wearing said garment. Proceed according to your comfort level)

This list isn't comprehensive, just the most common things I do.  A healthy dose of conspiracy driven paranoia is your friend.  If it can blamed for your poor performance in any way, shape, or form... by all means, do it!

I'm guessing from Sunka's post (sorry, it's a bit tough to read) the point is: Lots of bad luck.

My night last night:

Chasing a 110 up in a zoom. 110 flips around with no change in target aspect and I'm eating cannon fire.
Engaging bonzo, his P-47M vs. my F4U-1A. He tries fighting me in a rolling scissors (bad idea vs. a Hog) and I shoot him down. He ups again and we get into the same situation, this time I accelerate faster than I expected on the downleg of one roll and I slam into the deck.
Burn up all my fuel in one fight, not managing to put lead on a target and swing home, only to get rocket-vulched by a 190F that blows through the cap as my wheels touch the runway with nary a Check 6.
Even during my best sortie of the night, several times I put a good hit on the target only to watch him fly away showing no sign of trouble.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

LOL You are screwed!  How about pull out a really high ENY plane and make yourself work harder than you have to. Trya C.202, 109-E, F4f, A6M2 or something along those lines.

Guys,

You will have to forgive Waystin. He just got over a very bad cold and he's emaciated and hungry. We had to lock him in an ammo bunker for awhile because he kept bailing from a Storch over King Tigers and killing them with his .45. Watching a grown man use a Swiss Army knife to eat a tank is not for the young......

P.S.

As our Piggy leader of frivolities and maddness he forces us to follow him in I16 NOE to vulch large fields. We still mostly get home alive which is what confuses me.

Sunka that wasnt quite owning... as you couldnt move your plane!  hee hee  but if it makes you feel any better, right after that I upped a jet, made  a pass on a 38 (moron was flyin it) and he stik stirred just enough to where I lost sight of him and hit his plane with my left wing... in I go!  gahh!   :aok
