American Light tank....
« on: December 15, 2012, 09:06:03 PM »
I wish for some light tanks as of right now the only thing we have that comes even remotely close to a light tank is the M8 but my wish is for the M24 Chaffee and the M5 Stuart and the M3 Stuart

There was a little over 4,000 M24s built and a little over 6,000 built of the M5 and the M3 had about 7,000 built

And some Japanese Tanks:

Type 95 Ha-Go
Type 97 Chi-Ha (Although classified as a "medium tank" according to wiki, shouldn't leave it out. :D  Besides, it's armor is along the lines of the light tank line. :aok)

Not sure light tanks would be all that much fun in a heavy tank/ambush style game like we have now.

I am all for more armor. How about the German Stug III Aust. G 75mm assult gun or the Panzer MK.III 50mm tank.

Actually the M8 is very fun in AH...just don't shoot until your barrel is almost touching him.

If HTC is going to add in a light tank, then it needs to have more armor than the M8 and M18, be at least as fast as the T34/76 (34mph), and have a decent enough gun to fit above the M8.  Case in point, it needs to have the speed to scout and evade and/or flank and attack.  Otherwise it wont have much of a use.

The Stuart has the same gun as the M8, but more armor than both the M8 and M18 (which isnt saying much).  What good would the Stuart be in AH?

BT-5 is what you want Loon.

13mm Armor in the front, but 45mm gun and 44mph speed.

BT-5's 45mm would be even less effective than the US 37mm. The M3 37mm was possibly the most effective gun in its caliber range.
