Iv got a 1993 gmc 2500 pick up. The locking mech on the stearing wheel is broke that releases the key. I can not find a screw or bolt to take the stearing wheel apart. Were would it be located?

do you mean that part that prevents you from turning the ignition key all the way to the "off" position?
if you're just looking to remove the steering wheel, you'll need a puller. there will be 2 or 4 screws or small bolts that are holding the airbag on if it has one. if it has an airbag, disconnect the battery BEFORE touching anything. remove those screws, then unplug the airbag, and set it aside. you'll see a single nut....normally it'll take a 19mm or 18mm socket. remove this. this is where you'll need the puller to get the wheel off.
once it's off, you'll see the horn ring. you'll need a way to evenly press this down a bit, and a small pick to remove the retaining snap-ring. once this is removed, you'll see the turnsignal switch. 1 screw holds the turn signal stalk to the switch. remove it, then remove the 3 screws holding the turnsignal switch in. you should be able to pull it out about 3" without disconnecting the wire harness.
now you've got a tab with 2 thin copper contacts. it'll be held in with a torx headed screw. remove that, and you've now got the ignition lock cylinder retaining screw there. it also is a torx head. remove this, and you can simply slide the ignition lock cylinder out.
now.....do you need to get farther down into the pivot area of the tilt mechanism?
