Interesting no forward assist on the lower rifle:-

That is a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport. The basic, low cost version deletes both the FA and the dust cover... It's exceptionally rare that the FA is needed on a recreational AR. All M&P 15s have a Melonite (Ferritic Nitrocarburizing) treatment on the bore... Far more durable than chrome and generally results in better accuracy than chrome too.

Txsailor right? You still over at Survivors?

I think the wood effect or real wood stock kits look cool. Nice rifle.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

That is a fine rifle!  Nice looking furniture on it as well, did you do the stain work?

Thanks to you, survivors is what keeps me from lurking here! Lol. Its solid wood all around, a bit heavy, but that pistol grip feels like butter! And Loon, nope that's exactly how it came out of the package!

You mean people lurk here?  :noid

I haven't been active over there, but I am lurking... ;)

It looks very nice, the fact that it is not oozing with accessories really pleases me. Still can't say I have the desire for an AR platform. I think I am going to buy a VEPR in 7.62x54r, make it my DMR.

Hopefully y'all realize that OP was intended as a joke. That style of rifle is neat and fun to shoot but in reality I've got no use for one (or maybe just budget for one). I'd probably have a bigger caliber one with night scope for hogs if I did more pig hunting.

It looks very nice, the fact that it is not oozing with accessories really pleases me. Still can't say I have the desire for an AR platform. I think I am going to buy a VEPR in 7.62x54r, make it my DMR.

I REALLY need a DMR. When I get my pre-commissioning loan, I will be getting one but I think it needs to be domestic. Either a National Match M-1A, an M-21, or an SR-25. Right now, the closest thing I have to a DMR would be my Finnish M39 or my M1 Garand :(

I went with the AR because I felt I needed a domestic weapon. Everything else I owned was Russian, Romanian, or Yugoslavian. I wanted interchangeability with my shipmates here. Honestly, I planned it as a "I'll buy it, and it will sit in the safe, and that will be that. My SKSs will still be my pride and joy". Boy was I wrong! I honestly love this AR-15. I take it out at least every other day just to cycle the bolt and dry fire. It just feels good to hold and practice with, and it's very ergonomic. I think every American should own at least one, as they're downright fun! And the modularity is fantastic! I didn't like plastic and I had no problem finding that wood. Didn't like other slings, but they make one with the proper attachments that I love. Didn't like the trigger, swapped it out for the nicest trigger I've ever felt. It's just a wonderful, FUN gun. My only complaint is that I would like something with a little more range and power, but for a battle carbine I prefer the accuracy and ergonomics to my 7.62x39 platforms.
