ID"S and Lettering turn gray.
« on: January 02, 2013, 12:12:23 PM »
So my video card crapped out the other day.  After removing it and all drivers i wanted to see if i could play aces off the onboard till my rma from evga gets here.  I am getting great frame rate, 55-60 with vsync on.  The problem is if i turn my head/view more than 90 degrees in any direction from the front view all plane icons and names become grey instead of green or red.  Also any  text on the screen goes grey i.e. the FPS counter and mem usage text will go from green to grey if i look to the side but goes back to green the moment i look back forward.  I have uninstalled Ace's and reinstalled twice.  I have tried with and without hi res pack.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.  I would like to figure this out before my new vc gets back.  Ive include a screen shot of me looking to the side and the FPS counter, and auto take off text being greyed out.

Turn your in game textures down a notch or two. Most likely your running the on board video isn't as strong as your card and so loses some of the colors and such. When you put the new card back in you'll be able to turn them up again.

I had a version of this problem myself.  My problem was that the video card I was running AH off of was not powerful enough.  No matter what graphics settings I changed, even after lowering every possible option to the lowest setting, the problem would not go away.   I have a laptop, which has two video cards apparently.  Default had it running off the "battery saver" option, which made AH run off of the lower powered HP Internal graphics card.   Once I switched it over to "High Performance", and it started running on the higher powered AMD Radeon card, this problem completley went away.  My guess is your onboard card just isn't powerful enough.

There are limitations and issues with using onboard video chips we simply cannot work around.

You also want to uncheck "Auto-Take Off" and "La-7".

Thank You for this.  I was worried i had something else wrong with my comp since the FPS was so good.  Looks like its off the the Officers club for me till evga gets me a new vc.  Thank you to every one for you suggestions.

The other thing I should note.  With onboard video chips there are times when we can fix an issue, but the performance cost, for the fix, is prohibitive.
