What does it take to have a 3-monitor PC?
« on: January 01, 2013, 03:54:31 PM »
Evening,

I have a fairly new PC with latest technology (Gtx 670 & i7 3930K overclocked to 4,0 Ghz) And i've been wondering if it's enough. I always wanted to have 3 monitors as it brings very nice experience in (Combat)flight simulators. I need information for all the cables, types of monitors, and hardware i would need.

Thanks!  :salute
My favourite Planes: Spitfire MK XIV, BF109, B24, B17

For Aces High alone, more than enough. For other AAA games, a better GPU or SLI.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

And you need to make sure that your video card can drive 3 monitors or that your motherboard supports SLI.  I know, I found out the hard way... :furious

Are you sure you want three monitors? I ask because I was in this boat just before Christmas. I got the ok from Santa to add two more monitors to my system. After a bunch of questions and research I decided on a 39 inch 1080p LCD tv. For me the extra "realestate" you get with the 3 monitors isn't what I was looking for. I wanted to be able to see the dots/planes/tanks better and widening the screen wouldn't do that, but bigger did.

So be sure you want more coverage, and not a bigger screen.
