Finland received 14 Hurricane Mk Is from Britain in February 1940 but although 12 of these were made operational with 2.LeLv32 they arrived too late to see any action in the Winter War against the Soviets. By mid 1941 when the Continuation War started the Hurricanes were suffering from a lack of spares forcing the cannibalization of some of the aircraft to keep the rest operational.
The aircraft I've skinned is HC-452, which scored 2.5 kills against Soviet aircraft. This aircraft shows the Finnish paint scheme that was applied over the original RAF paint in late 1941. The rudder and rear tailwheel fairing from HC 455 has been fitted, both still in the original RAF paint.
HC-452 survived the war and was preserved for posterity. You can see photos of the real plane
here and
here. I've reduced the level of corrosion and paint peeling the real aircraft shows since I guess some of this must have happened post war.
