Took my son to see the Hobbit in 3d HFR.
For those who don't know, 3d HFR is a digital filming process that boosts the frame rate ..a LOT.
The effect is a substantial improvement in any scene that involves the camera panning across ..
..no artifacting, tearing, flickering, blurring .. it adds to the suspension of disbelief.
You *are* there.
Immersive is such a huge understatement.
It felt like I was sittin in front of a huge window watching the action right outside.
To the point where my son and I both reacted to a scene
where Thorin Oakenshield comes into camera from close right
and Eric and I both wondered who the moron was who was cuttin across our view ..
..o..wait ..nm ..he's in the MOVIE!
..and that was just one of the many very cool moments throughout.
Worth every penny of the 50 cents extra per ticket at our theater
Just amazing.
I am rooned for life now .. cant wait to see Jack the Giant Slayer in 3dHFR.
