Flipping Over
« on: January 06, 2013, 05:51:39 PM »
My 2 cents.

Since HiTech can't make the trees destructible(which I understand), I would like a way to counter the "absolute power" of the titanium trees. All vehicles should be able to flip themselves back over WITHOUT the need of supplies.   I know flipping T34s even Tiger 2s isn't realistic, however neither is indestructible "titanium" trees.

Respectively,

Tinkles

This is possibly the most relevant post about this....I'm in  :pray
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

+1 :aok Although, personally I'd prefer a system where when you collided, you just came to a stop. Part of the reason they end up inverted is because there seems to be some sort of auto 'bounce back' coded in game. Also if there ever were any 'tank traps' modeled in any maps, this would make them ineffective.

That said I wouldn't mind a button for 'flip vehicle' coded in either, but just make enabled only when you are actually inverted. Wouldn't want to see people frog-leaping tanks to get away from an incoming shell.

Oh and in before some uber drivejockey jumps in saying "don't drive into trees".

It'd be nice if a flipped tank slowly righted itself... that way it's not instantaneous, but you are also not playing the turtle-begging-for-sups-at-who-knows-where-the-hell-I-am game.

The problem with flipping tanks has been drastically reduced some time ago.  I can now run into trees with little fear of flipping.  With the exception of driving over too steep a hill (in which it should flip) is this still a huge problem?

I ran into this problem a few nights ago. Bish (i think) were spawning like mad trying to take a base, I pulled a Panther into some underbrush and started laying into the on coming rush of vehicles. After the smoke cleared and their VH had been taken out by the fun police, I started to pivot to head home, totally forgetting about the underbrush around me and before I knew it all was upside down. Luckily a squaddie who had just been at the same fight was kind enough to come out and give me supps. But sadly there isn't always a squaddie near by or a good samaritan.

+1 to the idea  :aok

Yeah, not instant (just like supplies should reload the player over a period of time, possibly even for planes on the re-arm pad).

lol'd at turtle bit :)

Perks are way to easy to come by, sure its an annoying pest to flip a tank, but get over it..

I've lost Tiger II's and dozens of Panthers, if its to frustrating don't tank or simply be careful around trees and hills

.........or if there was a way to change the coding so tanks could knock trees down but planes could not.
The trees could reset in a couple hours......."hey Ralph, did you sit on something at the store?"   :D

But since this can't happen for at least a few more years...

Tanks should have the ability to flip themselves back over.

For me, I flipped because I DC'd. Was driving along, trees 600 ahead of me... then DC; come back in, and I'm flipped over.  Apparently, there were VH supplies dropped while I was DC'd within 400 yrds of me, but the icon never came up (Started & shut off my engine a number of times). So that is why this post is here.
