I think every bowl team other than Notre Dame is thinking what they could have done instead.  Ready for the college football playoffs to arrive!

While I think it would have been competitive, I think Bama would have beaten the Aggies in the rematch. No one is better than Saban at preparing his team for the big games, and I think they sort of played down to A&M the first time. Of course, A&M has turned into a monster offensive football team, and I don't see many people beating them next year.

A&M looses 5 potential first roubd offensive linemen to the NFL draft and there is always a "Heisman letdown" in the season following that award for under classmen.

Hey Oaktree; where is your non SEC rant this year? Or did you just decide to give up after 7 straight championships and 9 overall BCS titles. One more thing for the Ohio State fans...Urban "my heart hurts" Meyer is glad his paper tiger team sat at home this year undefeated. If they would have played Bama in the title game they would have goten shelled.

I'm a Big Ten guy.....always have always will.  But more then that I'm a football guy.

For the last 4 to 5 years the SEC has been the dominant college football conference in the NCAA.

Imho.......ND had no reason to be on the same field with Alabama.  I know they were udefeated , so were my Buckeyes.  But!

Alabama had the most talent, has the best Coach and a system in place.  ND is just building theirs.  They will be better in the future.

ND had a great season and props to them!  Alabama amongst a few others were just more talanted.

By the way......I was extremely disappointed in #5  (Tai'o?)  the MLB of the fighting Irish.  He looked very average to me.

Methinks he was wayyyy over-hyped.  If he played that poorly against the Tide, I don't see his future being outstanding
playing Sundays against the best of the best.  Not picking on him.  Just from what I've read and heard, he wasn't all that much.
There are better LBs in the SEC and the Big Ten then he is imho.  I've seen much better Linbacker play elsewhere this season then he exhibited in the
biggest game of his life.  Championship caliber players should rise to the occaision.

Agreed Hajo, he was made out to be very human.

Eddie Lacy's play was amazing, there was a run at the beginning of the 3rd quarter where he made a great cut then could have ducked out of bounds with a 15 yard gain. Instead he lowers the boom and puts a linebacker into the dirt. He wasn't worried about that defense at all, what a statement play.

Last night highlighted the major differences between the way the good SEC teams and the rest run their football programs leading up to a big game.  30 odd days to prepare gives a coach like Saban an enormous amount of time to come out with an excellent game plan.  That and the indisputable talent of Alabama allowed them to just smash ND and expose the differences between the two programs.

In all fairness, there were not many programs that could hope to compete with Alabama.  This absolute blow out should highlight once and for all that the BCS system is garbage and the only real alternative for a proper championship is an 8 team playoff system.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

A&M, like mentioned above, will be losing quite a few players to the NFL.  Think both their tackles are projected to be in the top 15?  Not sure if I am right on that.

Be weary of Florida though as well next year.  Not trying to be biased as Im a Gator fan, but they wont be too bad next year.  The defense did lose Matt Elam and Sharrif Floyd, and rumor is that Jelani Jenkins is declaring as well, the defense is very deep.  After watching Hargreaves in the All-American game, Muschamp recruited a freshmen that can start right away and be a shut down corner.  Jordan Reed is leaving but if the recruiting continues right for Muschamp, the wide receivers coming in are play makers even as freshmen.  The team is young and I can see next year being more promising with Driskel maturing with hopefully the receivers stepping up.  They will definitely be winning the East division, I dont see Georgia winning it next year.  I cant wait to see the offensive line with Trenton Brown coming as a 6'8 350lb transfer.  Damarcus Robinson is a big WR the Gators need at 6'2.  The running game will be impressive with Kelvin Taylor coming in to back up Matt Jones.

Those refs sucked though in the end.  There were quite a few blatant holding calls not called against Bama.

Except OSU would have played Notre Dame and won 42-20.  Fact is, SweaterVest covering up his players mistakes cost OSU, not just a postseason, but a National Championship.  A championship for OSU after all the recent failures to win the game, they had a chance to play a super-weak undefeated ND, and didn't go because of SweaterVest cheating on something pretty minor.

Purdue should have beaten both of them in the regular season.  Except by one play, they didn't.  Not saying Alabama isn't better, clearly if Purdue should have beaten both of them, they aren't.  I'm saying if OSU was bowl-eligible, Alabama wouldn't even have been in the game.  So instead of slamming OSU, you should be thanking your lucky ebayed sports memorabilia they allowed you to lose a game and still win it all.

Most Buckeye fans know the team this year was not of championship caliber.  It was a good season though...even if the big ten had a down year.

However looking at the recruits coming to The Ohio State University.....it won't be that long.  Ohio State is just back to reloading and Urban will
have them ready within a couple years.  They should be improved somewhat in 2013.

Be weary of Florida though as well next year.

Watch out for South Carolina also. We're losing most of our starters on D to the draft, but there's depth in the secondary, and the unstopable JD Clowney up front. He wants to win the Heisman next year, so you know he will be firing on all cylinders.

Offense is stacked, most of the starters are returning, including Connor Shaw, Ace Sanders and (likely) Bruce Ellington. This team should be fun to watch

A man much wiser than myself pointed out the same thing to me in an earlier discussion, Fringe. Two in the top 15 and another guy possible in the 1st round too. If you watch his highlights you see some incredible blocking by those hogs. He'll still be awesome, but idk if he can match this years production.

Wasn't that just a pitiful game for the National Championship? Who in the hell decides the ranking going into these things. How could Notre Dame even remotely be considered #1 going in and get beat so handily?

The only thing I can figure is these bowl games and rankings are solely designed for who can bring in the biggest TV viewing audience. The #1 ranked team can't score one single point?! Does the Amish community set the rankings or what?
