A flight taking off from a different field would seem to be a different mission, wouldn't it?

Could be several mini-missions going on simultaneously as part of the overall mission, like diversionary attacks. Other cases you could have a bomber force taking off from one field and the escorts taking off from another. I like this because it keeps everything under one roof and lets everyone know that the flights will be used to support the mission objectives.
