Apparently I must know the right people. Today on the way back from ferrying an Aztec with a friend we stopped in Addison on the way back from Cincinnati for dinner with a few mutual friends. Wayne (someone who has been flying longer than my mom has been alive) picked us up from the airport. We went to the Saltgrass steakhouse and had a nice dinner, BS'ed for a little while, and then Wayne took us back to the airport. We said our goodbyes, shook hands, and then Wayne said "Dave, one last thing. I didn't want to tell you at dinner because I didn't want you to have an uncommanded trouser spasm, but I've got a gig for you flying right seat in a Citation. After a couple hundred hours right seat it will probably end up with you getting your type rating. I'll send you all of the reading material. You start in March."
I was speechless. Most likely I won't get paid (it's like an internship almost) but a Citation costs about $3k/hr to run, and turbine multi time in my logbook. It's most excellent.
